Actually, I take that back. Not getting paid sucks. Especially when you're about to run out of money, and bills are due.

That certainly does suck, and I feel bad for you and wish you luck. I'm lucky to have survived two rounds of layoffs at my company, and I'm hoping things get better soon.

Thanks for the words of support.

Makes me really wonder why I went back to school to get my BSCS - right now, it seems like a big waste of money and time. :(

Its worse when you don't have constant cash flow, bills are comming in, have to pay for school, getting knighted, hanging with working friends during weekends, playing games 24/7, needing personel, have bad case of acne that just can't be cured :Q and you hang around "Hot Deals" forums.

Did I get everythign?

My friend who had worked at Waste Management for the last 13 years and who was making 43k a year calls up and quits 5 weeks ago. Why? He said he was bored and stressed out. He can't find a job and he says he didn't think it would be this hard to find a new one! WTF, he doesn't even have a HS Diploma, what a tard! Now his wife is talking about splitting up with him and going bankrupt. I guess the morale of my story is "being unemployed can be catastophic in more ways than one".

Good luck.

What a MORON. RULE #-F**KING-ONE: DO NOT quit your job until you have another one lined up UNLESS your job is so bad that you are suicidal or being sexually abused. There are no other reasons to do it.

Anyway yes being unemployed sucks balls. I was unemployed 6.5 months last year. This year April 30 I get notice that if nothing comes through in projects I'm gone end of May with another couple of folk. Something came through last week - very short - but I will find out today if it's enough to tide us over another month to give us extra time.

Those of you who have never known job instability do not take it for granted. Life is harder when you can never say with certainty you'll still have a job in 3 months. You have to spend more sparingly and think long and hard as to whether you really want to buy that new car, knowing full well that you could be unemployed for long stretches. Most of this is because I'm in IT, which is a terribly sh**ty field to be in right now if you don't have a lot of experience or contacts.

I'll tell you something though! Being unemployed is both a humbling and educational experience. It gave me a more mature outlook on the world and forced me to turn my outlook on finances around 180 degrees, so that when I got the job I have now I knew how to handle the money properly. If I'm unemployed this time I'll be better set up than I was last time. I hope I get lucky though and they keep us on for a while yet, or reinstate us as full employees and rip up those termination papers!

What do you do when you have a secure job, get paid well, but can't seem to get into your work anymore?

I've been burnt out lately, and I hate it. I love what I do, but not what I'm presently doing. I just haven't been able to get my mind into work lately...

Anywho, yes, being unemployed is suck. Many years ago I lost my job without warning, without severance, and without any savings. The stress of not knowing how you're going to pay your bills is extreme, so I wish you luck!

This is partly the reason I live at home. I don't make very much, but when the bills come due, there are several people to pay for it instead of just me. Of course my porn collection is probably a little smaller than yours, but thats one of the negatives of having parents around.

A year? If I lose my job I have to leave in like 30 days I think.

Not that I want to hijack this thread with discussions on acne, but I have friends who had severe mood changes whilst on accutane. A certain girl friend of mine was almost psychotic while taking the medication. She was fine before, and she's fine now.

The doctor didn't directly acknowledge that accutane was the source of her mood swings, but it seems rather obvious. I went to the doctor with a minor breakout problem and the doctor said we might have to be a little more aggressive and go w/ accutane. Hell no, I say!

I was on accutane for two cycles. It worked well first time but after about a year the acne came back so I increased dosage second time. I could not finish the cycle as the side effects were too severe. My lips were insanely dry, I was extremely prone to nose bleeds, and my eyes were starting to hurt a lot (probably the most alarming side effect). I went off it. In time my acne has gone down as I've aged but at 24 I still have a bit.

Acne sucks. Accutane works for some people but for me the side effects were just too bad and it can have long term ones like liver damage. That's not cool. Just ride the wave out. By your mid to late 20's you'll not have acne anymore most likely ;)
