Yep, it sure does, especially this time of year. Tell you what though, you don't need a lot of money to do a whole lot of good. If you have some spare time, volunteer to do some work with a local agency, church or organization. I guarantee that you will be amazed at how good it makes you feel when you're able to do something for others that have even less. :)

So how poor are you? I'm betting you really arent poor and just feel a bit like whining. Thats okay though, just a reminder that you're probably sitting in a decent building with heat, wearing clean clothes and playing on your comptuer while some people are outside, cold nad hungry with no place to go.

....ah, but that's what I'm trying to tell you. The more you do, the better YOU will feel. I'm not just blowing smoke bud, I've been there. :)

Sorry you're not feeling too hot... hang in there!

I was feeling down, the holidays will suck this year with the wife and I separated and splitting time with the kids.

So the other day I contacted Catholic Social Services so my two daughters and I could adopt a needy child for Christmas. They give me a list of items the child would like to have and ask that we pick out 2 or 3 items so the child has a few toys for Christmas. My daughters are very excited about bringing joy to a child that otherwise would not have much of a Christmas.

Now my daughters and I have a new Christmas Tradition for the three of us. It's a good feeling knowing you can bring a little joy to a childs life if even for a moment. You never know that may be a moment that child will cherish forever.

Yes, we are also taking some of the 'gift cards' from the tree at our local church. Each card represents one child that would like to get a little present where otherwise there would be none.... and it's a great feeling to know you've helped someone. And if you can't do it with money, there are plenty of other ways to do it :)

Yah being 'poor' in this society is hard to define.
I watched a show ther they showed people on the welfare line who describved themselves as poor and the interviewer asked if they had cars and colour tvs and microwaves and they all did.
So is this poor like Indian or China poor? Probably not but as I've pointed out in other threads money buys you opporunities not happiness.
Feel lucky you live in a society that keeps you clothed and sheltered and carry and atttitude of gratitude. Frame of mind is probably the most important thing.

If you can afford 3 meals a day, and a computer, and electricity for it; you're not poor, just lower middle class.

Being poor and having a warm bed to sleep in is one thing but to be poor and on the cold streets is another. So you have two options:

1. Do nothing, stay poor and dwell in you own pity.
2. Do something and make you situation better.

Cheers,

omg, you summed up how i'm feeling right now, peftectly:
"screw other people, i am sick and tired of thinking about other people."
some people just piss me off...you know, the ones you can read their intentions like a book, and then they try and get inside your head and mess with you...
