Being an apartment coordinator?

So I currently live in an apt building on the same floor as the guy who's basically in charge of all the UCLA owned apartment buildings, and he said the position of an AC (apartment coordinator..basically take care of an apt building of maybe 250 kids) was basically mine if I wanted it.

My responsibilities then basically extend to just writing up and filing complaints or whatever as I get them, and every two weeks or so be on call for all UCLA apt. buildings for a 24 hour period. In return then I get a free one bedroom place with free utilities, and even cable tv/internet for 12 months (which around the LA area is over a $14,000 value, at around $1200/month), and even get paid $400 a month.

The only thing really stopping me though from taking this position is that I'd have to stay around for the whole summer (I live about 350 miles away), and stay around for some of the break periods..and of course having to deal with whatever drama may arise..although generally in the apt. buildings most people are rather civil compared to the dorms.

So has anyone here ever taken on a similar situation? The finances around it is really awesome, saving me maybe $5000 for the year..as I'd probably end up sharing a 2 bedroom place among 4 people otherwise..and I get a spiffy place of my own while being in a nice position of power. Is there any reason why I really shouldn't take this position?

Damn, dude, go for it. Relatively easy rent plus some spending cash. Exactly the position for which I'm aiming to have during law school.

only do it if you are not a south campus major, if you are, i hope you are either very studious or a genius cause this job will take a lot of your free time.

think of the problems you've ever had while living in apartments that required you to call the landlord and time that by 200 then imagine yourself solving most if not all the problems at all hours of the day.
