From the looks of it that animal was grass-fed only, either that or you bought an old heffer that was no longer producing a lot of milk. Don't mean to thread crap but that looks like a tough eat..

Good deal, nothing wrong with grass fed, might look different than what you see in local market but can taste fine. Glad to hear it was not an old heifer, typically these are processed for ground beef, (a small processing plant near here turns old heifers into Wendy's), they can be eaten as roasts and steaks but you better have the jowl muscles of a hyena.

Grass-fed means the cow is eating what it should. Cows are ruminants and have four stomachs in order to digest grass. Grain-fed beef is pumped full of hormones so it doesn't get sick from the havoc that grain causes its digestive system.

cutting bulk meat up is so fun that several many around here now take their deer kills to a local plant to get it sliced up for free -some of the meat.

where would you be going? Deer hunting in the plains (Nebraska, etc) is radically different from hillier wooded areas (Missouri, etc)

The paint job on Hotchic's face does nothing! I already know what she looks like! (assuming it was her that was giving you medical attention)
You guys just happen to have meat hooks laying around or are those improvised meathooks?
