First to make a deal is always the winner.

Google and YouTube arent stupid, they knew they had hundreds of millions in law suits waiting for them once YouTube was bought. So if this is true, they headed off the lawsuits by paying each studio $50million. It is alleged they set aside $200-500million of the buyout money to pay the studios.

Easy. Redefine the company's internal definition of "evil."

Id like to know how settling future lawsuits is evil?

Because the studios are going after YouTubes competition? Hello, its their right. Its not YouTubes fault their competition doesnt have the hundreds of millions to settle/pay for royalty rights.
