Beginners Linux

RedHat is gone from freedom. Fedora is very buggy at the moment from all I've heard, although I've not tried it myself.

Basically Mandrake, or if you don't mind shelling out for it, SuSE.

fedora is fine, and faster than redhat 9. not so buggy as people imagine.
but just like redhat, you'll have to instal some rpm to play mp3 and access ntfs drives.

if you just want to try a little, use knoppix 3.2

Get yourself a great book for beginner -- Moving to Linux: Kiss the Blue Screen of Death Goodbye!

And try Mandrake, Redhat, Suse. The other avenue is to try live CD distros such as Knoppix, Gnoppix or PCLinuxOS.
