Hello,
I bought this game a few month back on Steam and haven't been able to play it past the introduction due to work. I am finally going try to get into the game in the next couple of weeks. If you had 1 tip for me to make my life a little easier with this game, what would it be? I haven't played an RPG quite like this before.

Some tips here,http://guides.gamepressure.com/divinityoriginalsin/guide.asp?ID=23969

Remember mages can summon monsters to help you when outnumbered, don't leave first town too early plenty of quests in starter town that should get you to level 3 or 4,also have a full group ie 4 when you do leave town,do west side gate first when leaving.

Ranger with charmed arrows can allow an enemy to be on your side for a few turns as well.

It's pretty tough, and pretty boring IMO. As a mage, sling oil everywhere to stage the area for your fights.

AoE is pretty damn powerful in Divinity. Rangers with the AoE arrows are great. Of course the same applies from the enemy so spread your forces out if you can

Divinity is a great game.

Biggest flaw however is the imbalance of difficulty from early game to late game.

Early - fun but frustrating. You must do everything you can quest wise to hit level 4, get your 2 npcs stock up on potions and have a few good scrolls ready. Cause guess what, this is only time you will really need them.aoe spells like oil are important to hold off enemy and widdle them down. Ignore all boss encounters if possible to level 7 or so? use summons! You will want at least 2 chars with creature summons to survive.

Mid game - this is where the game is best. Fights can be challenging but very fun. You'll be popping some heal potions....and likely discovering ways you could have Billy your chars better but it is not game breaking. If all of your chars are using summons or you have the right mix of element spells you can control most fights.

Late game. Now it goes to the other extreme. You are basically totally overpowered.

Tip : in Cyseal, steal the paintings on the wall where you can. They're pretty valuable.
