Before I open the box -Does the X-connect fan point down or up?

hey guys,

Recieved my Ultra X-connect 500w PSU toda. Can't wait to open it and put it in my Tsunami but I got to looking at the box and it looks like the fan might go ON TOP (point up towards top of case) instead of towards the bottom. I really can't tell by the box and I don't want to break the seal until I know for sure. I suppose there would be a gap in the top of my Tsunami case to draw air but im not sure, I don't want to put a restriction on the fan. It would get hotter air up there would't it? Or not really that much difference maybe. Yes, I am aware I might have to take out the USB thing to get it to fit if it is big.

Another question.... Would it be BETTER to be on top since it wouldn't "fight" the 120mm exhaust fan?
I hope this makes sense. If it didn't please let me know and i'll clarify.

Thanks,
Rhin0

i have the same case and the same psu. don't worry about it, you install it with the fan pointing down. it looks beautiful in the tsunami case (i have the titanium w/ window and uv). i don't believe the fans are fighting to exhaust hot air. don't worry about it. this case with this psu is a nice combo.

I was thinking about buying it after hearing how great ocz powersupplies are but with the fan on the top would it be better to buy the Ultra X Connect?

I think the PSU is just shown like that for picture purposes but when you install it in a case the fan is installed facing downward. I think unless you need a very powerful PSU, you can save some $$$ and get OCZ420 with adjustable rails and a stronger 12V rail than the OCZ ModStream for $87 (this includes shipping) at Excaliberpc.com

thanks for the input

I bought the gloss black. I thought the Ti might look good but opted for the black.I realize now it obvious goes down as it should. Honestly it would work either way (functionally speaking). The picture was a little confusing but it is obvisouly just to show off the fan grille and such. I'm going to bolt this bad boy in there tomorrow.

BTW- the OCZ 450w modstream was my other choice. It looks like some of the best bang for the buck ever in PSU's.
