It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the "mead" he could drink. Mead is a honey beer, and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the "honey month," or what we know today as, the "honeymoon".

The name of the beer paid to stonemasons working in the Pyramids of Ancient Egypt was KASH, from which comes the modern name for money.

The oldest written recipe in the world isn't for a mango-infused Pterodactyl chutney. It's for beer! See the tablet.

12 oz of a typical American pale lager actually has fewer calories than 2 percent milk or apple juice.

Well, now we know why the old civilizations ceased to exist: beer! Especially when taken during the so-called 'honeymoon' it may (and inevitably will) result in various birth defects.

You left out WHY the father would do this.... DRUNK = PREGNANT hence, one moon, or one month, or one full menstrual cycle. After that, they were on their own.
