St bernardus abt12 is soooo good and its not that expensive considering the quality ... I get the 22 ounce bottle for $8. Though I've seen it sold for over $20 at bars (e.g., the brickskeller in DC)

I used to live close to a bar that sold 16oz St. Bernardus ABT12 drafts for $5. Holy crap that was awesome. It's a COMPLETELY different beer on tap than from the bottle. The bottle is good. I can't put into words how heavenly the draft was.

I can get the 22 oz bottles of Ommegang for like $5 .... The St Bernardus runs me about $8 as well. If I drink 10 bottles per week, that's $50 vs $80, it adds up pretty quickly.

That being said, I don't like drinking the same beer all the time, so I usually keep about 20 to 30 different kinds on hand.

My current favorite is Thirsty Dog Siberian Night Imperial Stout. $10 for a six pack, but it's 9% ABV so it's worth it.

Going completely off my rocker in dollars to drunkness, a 750ml bottle of Ale Smiths Speedway Stout for $13.00, 12% ABV. Really good stuff.
