It doesn't matter. Being hydrated is the big thing.
Because different alcohols (beer, wine, liquor, etc.) have different congeners, the various impurities can combine in less-than-pleasant ways, revealing the truth behind some popular reminders: "Don't mix the grape and the grain" (don't mix wine with liquor or beer) and "Beer before liquor, never been sicker. Liquor before beer, have no fear." The latter of the two also stems from the fact that the carbonation in beer actually speeds up the absorption of alcohol; therefore, following it with liquor gives the body even less time than usual to process the toxins -- often leading to a close encounter with "the porcelain god."

This theory only occured because people are stupid and don't realize that once you have a good bit of alcohol in you there is a tendency to not realize how much more you are putting in...

If you hit the liquor later on and don't realize this, it's easy to drink more and not think anything of it.

It works a lot easier if you just pay attention to how much you are drinking. Contrary to drunken belief, sippin' a bottle of jack is not the best way to help maintain a perfect buzz.

so erm, is risky good or bad?
and if you are in the clear, is that good or bad?

good = tipsy feeling
bad = bad stomach in morning

what's you're definitions of it?

The main problem with beer before liquor I think, is that after drinking beer, a puny little shot will go down so quick. And the next one, and the next, and the one after that.....

But it'll be like having 3-4-5 beers in 10 minutes.

As long as you give each drink the same amount of time you should be okay.

What's with the drinking topics today?

I think there might be something to the order theory, not too long ago I had about 6oz. of rum followed by two glasses of wine over the course of a night, very little in comparison to what I can generally drink without negative next-day effects, and I had quite a righteous hangover the next day. Was surprising enough for me to remember it. Impurities definitely play a part as well, if you've ever had too much cheap liquor and too much good stuff on different nights and compared the next-day experience, you know what I mean 😛

liquor then beer is the safe choice.

you don't drink beer then liquor because the carbonation causes a faster rate of absorbtion and if you got fizzy beer in your stomach and then have shots of say 80 proof vodka they will get absorbed very fast and you get sick because of how hard it "hits" you.

No, no no... you guys have it all wrong.

Liquor before beer, too drunk to steer
Beer before liquor, never been quicker

😉

Well either I'm the exception to that 'rule' or that's a load of nonsense (beer before liquor = sick). All the people I drink with start on the pints of beer, then switch to the shots in the late/early hours. Must be a UK culture thing, but it never makes me sick, and my trust glass or two of water before I go to sleep makes sure I don?t get any nasty hangovers either.
