Not sure those are the best suggestions for the OP since he listed a bock and a light wheat beer as his favorites. Those tend to not be very bitter.
It's worth trying a super-bitter beer like an IPA but those are an acquired taste. You can't just say "hey I love this IPA, you should try it and join the ranks of the beer snobs." You'll just make them hate it.
This is speaking from experience. I tried a Bell's Two Hearted on someone's recommendation a couple years ago and all I could taste was sap (I guess from tons of hops) and bitterness. Since then I have always stuck to less-bitter beers and I'm unwilling to try another IPA.
sorry for the late bump but since you are from Texas there are some pretty good beers available to you as someone else mentioned. I like 512 pecan porter, everything from southern star, real ale fireman #4 is a good blonde ale. Head to your local spec's and give them a try.
