I just got a new case of beer. Its from a local brewery and its a Pilsner. Every beer I open is really really foamy. I have not been shaking them and they keep overflowing with foam. I after I wait a while and let it sit and start drinking it again it will do it again! I will just take a gulp or a sip and it will start to spill out of the bottle when I put it down. When i try to poor it into a glass its hard to do cause its like 1/4th beern and 3/4ths foam.

Whats going on?

Poor beer...please help me.

If it's bottle conditioned your beer is infected. A wild yeast or bacteria strain has taken up residence and is producing to much co2
There's nothing wrong with it, but it may taste funny and be to foamy as you're finding out.

actually, the problem isn't likely to be wild yeast or some other contaminant. Pils do have high carbonation levels usually, and it sounds like the brewery overcarbonated this batch somehow.

If the beer tastes fine, but is just too foamy. Then you should chill the beer as much as possible before opening it. Cold liquids hold more dissolved gas than warmer liquids. As the beer warms in your glass it will gradually release the excess CO2. If that doesn't work, you should be able to return it....

If the beer tastes funky, then certainly return it. Bad taste is a sign of bacterial or wild yeast contamination.

Try chilling it cooler to kill some of the foam. If that fails, then drink it anyway....cause it's beer.

It would be sooo easy to reply like"its overclocked" or what ever.If you let it sit in a cool place in the dark for a few days,it will be ok.My son and I have had a few home brews that were"active".

Warm beer. Put it in the refrigerator.

its been cold for a day.

If i return it though i suppose it should be the distributor...

If you are local to the brewery it's very likely if you show up with a problem they'll be very interested in knowing about it, correcting it, and giving you a new case....

Beer people are generally pretty into their product and take pride in it. They shouldn't hassle you.
