I know everyone thinks their rules are the best, but you are wrong:

- 4 x 8 table
- Ten cups, consolidate at 6 and 3 (must be called)
- Two balls, each team starts with one
- Once ball is thrown, it is live and any team can get it. However you must be on your side of the table when the ball is thrown in order to retrieve it (i.e., no cherry picking)
- You cannot do anything until your beer is gone. No throws, blocks, or ball retrieval. Penalty is loss of ball
- Penalized one cup for overthrowing the table and not hitting anything (cannot lose on overthrow). When you are throwing at one cup, overshoots are also off (increased massacres and naked run potential)
- No rebuttals. Win the damn game the first time
- No blows or fingers - leads to cheating and arguing
- Bounce is two, but can block. Block of a thrown ball is one cup penalty (can lose on this penalty)
- No same cup bonus or balls back. It's counterintuitive, but in my opinion, this actually promotes luck and not skill.
- "Excessive" leaning during throw will be warned and then penalized. WBPT rules suck...those guys only throw from 4 feet away after the lean. Plus they are playing on the shorter Pong Along table.
- Throwing orders are not enforced. If a guy is on fire, feed him.
- Winner stays

Illusion - seems like the explosion pong would lead to quick games.....Are both players allowed to throw simultaneously?

Other variations:

Death Pong:
15 cups, 3 on 3, 4 balls. Same rules apply. This game destroys kegs and beers.

Explosion Pong (shot pong).
- Put two, three, or four empty shot glasses in the cups (hidden from other team)
- Once a cup with a shot glass is made, ALL shot glass cups are pulled for that team and they do shots for every cup pulled. Added bonus: make the shots look the same, but be different - 151, tequila, whiskey, and anything else in your liquor cabinet that looks the same.
- If a teams wins and still has their shot glasses in the game, the other team must finish them.

10 cup, 2 12oz beers per team.
2 racks per game, at any time. (Although we encourage a "gentleman's rack" in which you straighten out the last cup for the opposing team.)
No racking in between shots.
Interference is a re-shot.
Bounce is two.
Calling Lonely cup is two (one per turn).
Both players hit = rollback.
Both players hit the same cup (sniping) = game.
If you hit the cup your opponent is holding/drinking from = game.
If the ball rolls back to you after your first shot, another shot behind the back.
NBA Jam rules.
Shoot 'til yah miss rebuttals for loosing team (unless they were sniped).

I think I've played only 2 or 3 times since college, but we played on a regular ping pong table, and used paddles - more of a sport than just a simple set of rules that ensure that everyone gets drunk quickly. Played in teams of 2, each person put their cup on the table about 1 foot from the end & 1 foot from the edge. Played to 21, just like regular ping pong as far as points go, but if the ball hit the cup, the team whose cup was hit had to take a drink. That was also a point. If the ball went into the cup, 3 drinks each (large sips) from the cup & 3 points were scored. With a couple dozen people at a party, a beer pong tournament could go on for hours without people getting falling down drunk & vomiting everywhere.

In the absence of a regular ping pong table, a piece of plywood & sawhorses worked just fine. Still had paddles & a net though. It's a shame that the original game has been bastardized into the binge-drinking drunk-fest that it's become today.

10 cups
Balls back if both players make it.
Only Bitches Bounce - 2 cups if a girl makes a bounce
Re-rack @ 6 and 3

Rebuttal rules are the same for me.

Bouncing at opportune times is one of my favorite parts of the game... it's one of those things that doesn't happen for the first couple hours in the night but once people get sloppy it's like "WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"

I agree. A bitches bounce rule is stupid.
