Hey a Black and Tan which one goes in first?

the Tan?

or the Black?

no not just Drinking Guiness! taste like sausage!

and is the Tan Harp or Bass? I always forget. All I know is that I am done with finals and I got 24oz of Harp and 20 of Guiness with my name all over it!

EDIT Made a great Black and Tan and it was fantabulous! used a metal 1 tablespoon bent it and poured it out perfectly.... YUM

Did you know that the Guiness in the 20oz Cans have a plastic ball floating around so that you do not pour too hard for your Black 'n Tasties! very thoughtful:p

Yummmy! Black & tan....

Tan first.

Black poured on top with a spoon to disperse the flow into the glass.

Best is Killians red and Guiness.

Yummmmmy

Forget the Dr Pepper, go for an Irish Car Bomb. Guiness with a shot of Bailey's. Drop in, and drop back, in one gulp. Ummmm.

Anyone know if they sell the spoons for black & tans online? I was going to "borrow" one from Jillians, but I was to drunk to remember.

All I know is I have an alchoholic friend, who has been on the wagon for several years now, but when we drank together even he couldn't get a whole can of Newcastle brown down! Your right about the miners drinking it, I believe they were referred to as Geordies which wasn't necessarily a compliment LOL:)!

Phah... wussy drinks.. Go for some Duvel (9% alcohol). Better yet is aldescot, it's like a pre-built boiler maker, whiskey right in the bottle with the beer! The only problem is I have only found it in Paris.......

Erk.. You're right.. That's where I discovered it.. I still remember those cool Kwvak (I hope I spelled that right) glasses, like a small "yard of ale" type of thing, but with the great wooden stand/holder..

new belgium brewery up at colorado state has some nice beligian and holland style beers. fat tire is their most popular, but i dig damn near everything they make.

as for a spoon for a black and tan, just bend the handle of a cheap one. works fine.

A true Black and Tan is made with Bass,
a true Half and Half is made with Harp,
Guinness and cider (preferably woodpecker) is quite tasty as well.
Guinness always goes on top :)
and the little plastic ball in the pint cans is called a "widget" and releases nitrogen to to simulate the creamy head you get when its from tap. Just recently they started putting widgets in 12oz bottles, which isn't too bad, but its still not as good as the can, and nothing compares to a well poured pint from a pub!

and remember. . . Guinness is good for you!
