The only AwardBIOS beep code indicates that a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information. This beep code consists of a single long beep followed by two short beeps. Any other beeps are probably a RAM (Random Access Memory) problem.

Try taking out the vid card first and replacing it with a known working vidcard i.e.(One thats worked in another system for sure.)
If the problem persists after that, try reseating the RAM you currently have in the motherboard, And if it STILL wont work, try replacing the RAM altogether with RAM sticks you KNOW work.

yea, i was trying to install an extra 128mb pc100 into the slot, but im having a hard time fitting the thing in there...

i didn't even know i touched the vid card (in an AGP slot right next to memory)...
but i did take the viper 770 out and reseated it, and it booted...

i have the extra memory i bought still in the box now because i have to finish some work before i risk getting another boot error or anything...

i guess the viper 770 has to be perfectly 100% seated in the agp slot or it won't boot

lastly, i have a pc100 128mb i bought last year in the system right now (working fine), and im comparing the pc100 128mb i bought just the other day, the width of the module is the same, but the one i just bought is a bit taller. would it still work? its a b*tch trying to stick the memory into the slot although everything (except height) seems normal...

what happens if the vid card is ok but there was a problem with the RAM? how many beeps would that be? just one short beep?

One short beep indicates the system is working normally.
for RAM problems, it may make multiple short beeps or none at all
take out all your ram, power on the system, and you will hear its reaction

the height of the modules do not matter, unless you have something that would get in its way. i have an abit kt7-raid, and the clips on the ram slots are really picky about where the notch is located. a millimeter of difference could be causing it not to fit; filing the PCB down a bit might help. also check that all the pins are aligned correctly and making contact

hehe, oh yea, i forgot about the short beep it makes when its happy booting...

shoot, im gonna try again tomorrow afternoon cause i have a huge paper due tomorrow...
i almost had a heard attack when the comp didn't boot cause i had 50% of this paper already done on the comp and it was the only computer i had easy access to...

whew, although i had to go to sleep at 1AM cause of this problem, im glad my comp booted

but i hope the new stick of 128mb won't give me any trouble tomorrow
