Beep code problem

Recently my screen started freezing. No input worked. I had to shutdown and restart. It kept on freezing after a couple minutes after a few restarts and then would'nt boot at all no screen,audio . All I get is a beep tone...2short3 long. I searched for what that means and I can't find it even from Phoenix/Award bios beep listings.
I disconnected all devices, swapped ram,vid card,and monitor.
Any ideas?

Try removing the CMOS battery for 10 minutes then replacing it with a fresh battery.

Did that too,also reset the CMOS.

2 short and 3 long on a Phoenix BIOS is "Set initial CPU speed".

Based on that, I'd say the BIOS either has a bad setting for the CPU speed (making the system crash), or it is having trouble identifying the CPU properly. Check the CPU FSB and multiplier settings in the BIOS to make sure they are correct. Maybe reseat the CPU and try again to see if it just isn't making a good contact with the socket.

I can't do that, video is out. Monitor says no digital signal.
I found a another match for the beeping codes. 2 short is, First 64k ram chip/data failure, long beeps show which bits are bad. If this the case, what component ( mobo chip, ram, or harddrive?) is this coming from ?

Where did you find that? Beep codes are usually not that in-depth. If it is a ram error, try your ram one stick at a time.

Tried that too, Asus manual said to load single stick in #3. Did that w/both sticks, did'nt help. Is it a ram problem?
