aight!!! i have a new build here are specs:
abit kt7a
duron 700
128 mb mushkin pc150
visiontek geforce2 gts 32 mb
-------end if what im tryin to boot with----------
ibm deskstar 40 g 7200 rpm
turtle beach montego quadzilla
52x cd rom

heres the prob... i turn it on and get a long series of continuous beeps(never ending it just beeps and beeps and beeps) per awards bios beep codes, this tells me its a mem prob. the memory works fine in another pc, and ive tried using other sticks of ram-same result. is there ANYTHING else i can do to get this darn thing to boot? ive stripped it down to the basics as you can see and still cant get anything, no video just a blank screen and alot of beeps. does anyone have any fresh ideas on what i can do here? or what the problem might really be? the memory is compatible with that mobo, i checked b4 buying.....

Don't agree fully with your analysis of Award beep codes. A continuous beep . . . long steady tone is a memory problem. Short continued beeps are meory or VIDO problem. In this case you describe, my sense is video. Re-seat the vid card . . . better yet, if you can, swap in a different one.

Sorry bud, i was in your shoes not too long ago. Before I found out the worst case scenerio, I found some good advice from good people.

1. Make sure your MB is not grounding on anything, several people told me one of their MB placers against the case was misplaced and was touching some traces and causing the long continuous beeps. If you want to know for sure, take yer MB completely out of the case and on a non conductive surface and try to boot up (wood or cardboard).

2. Try clearing your cmos. Not only the normal clear way by grounding out the 2 pins, but also take out the battery and them clear the CMOS. Some people found this to work to make their beeps go away.

3. Make sure your memory slots are clean. Some people continually put in the memory and at one time it worked. They figured their contacts were dirty.

4. Finally the worst case, my case. I broke 2 traces of my MB when i applied my HS on the CPU. The clip attachment was a bit too big and scraped against the MOBO surface pretty hard to finally clamp in. I tried repairing the traces with conductive ink but i gave up and sold the MOBO.

could be a vid problem as suggested before but i personally havent heard this but i HAVE personally heard about and found solutions to all of the previous suggestions i gave. Good luck!
