Kingston 256mb DDR PC2100 Memory RAM

K7S5A PRO

Everything is new , I have taken everything off and rebooted and still beep....................beep....................beep...................beep..................beep

I wonder if I am makeing a rookie mistake somewhere? I did it all by the book so to speak...I put a mobo analyser on it it comes up with A8 which tells me nothing in the book that came with it....

Depending on the bios, this is usually a memory error code. Remove the memory and reinstall making sure it's properly seated and both retention clips are firmly snapped into place.

Only have memory, processor/heatsink, video card installed. No extra sound cards or anything. Hard drives aren't necessary on the first boot either along with any optical drives.

What brand/model power supply are you using? That particular motherboard is fussy with power supplies and cheap 300w ones do not produce a stable system and sometimes do not work at all.

I also had to mess with a system using the same board as yours today. I reset the cmos, removed all the memory and video card and booted it up so that it realized they were not installed and then reinstalled them and it worked.

Please answer my question though.

get a paper clip and short the green wire to the black wire right next to it, if the psu fan doesn't come on, you definatly have a dead psu.

I would not even attempt to run that system with that power supply. Make sure you get a name brand quality power supply this time such as antec or enermax.
