crap, i just BOUGHT this off of zipzoomfly

i guess i'll just buy some quieter fans

Cancel order + buy a Centurion 5 = profit.

psh, FANBOY

I think it's fairly obvious that that post was made with tongue planted firmly in cheek. Despite that:

The point was, if you're worried about the case, cancel the order and buy something else. I can vouch that the Centurion 5 has made me quite happy and is reasonably priced, but depending on how much you're willing to spend, there's a variety of cases from a variety of manufacturers that are great quality. In the under $100 range, look at CoolerMaster and Antec. If you're willing to go up to $150 - $200, there are a lot of great options by Lian-Li and Silverstone.

Give them a look. The last thing you want to do is buy something you'll be dissatisfied with.

well i've been looking at the tsunami for about 4 months now (i even went to a store and LOOKED at it, but they wouldnt let me test the fans)

im just sick to my stomach because through AT forums, people say that my case, psu, mobo, and hdd selections have been bad . . .

Eh, you'll never satisfy everyone 100%. However, if EVERYONE is suggesting you go with other things, you might want to consider their advice...

I mean, the Tsunami isn't a bad case by any stretch of the imagination, I just think an Antec or CoolerMaster model probably gives better performance and build quality for the dollar.

well i have a few people (with high post counts and good experience in computers) saying :

1. dont get a TT, get a CM or LL
2. dont get an MSI, get an ABIT!
3. dont get a NEOPOWER, get an OCZ because neopower cant handle MSI
4. dont get a MAXTOR, get a seagate! (i was going to get a seagate, but i found a maxtor 250GB for $130 in FS/FT)

Man I feel bad for you, don't let others pressurize you into changing your components.
I mean, heed their advice - yeah, they might have first hand information, but don't let some people bully you :) (Especailly fanboys)

Here's my take:

On the ThermalTake note, some poeple love it, some people hate it.
Overall, it's not bad case (Tsunami) - looks are subjective. What tends to drive people away from TT is the noise, I think that's one main area they should focus on. I think there's a general concensus that it's probably not the best bang for the buck when it comes to quality - but hey, if you like it then go for it.

But then again I shouldn't be talking about "Quality" - I have an NZXT Guardian.

In my opinion, a case should have 3 things:
1) Cooling - Depending on what components you have
2) Quietness - This is subjective, depends on person to person. Some guys have their computers locked up into closets (I'm dead serious).
3) Looks - Get a case you like :).

About the MSI vs. Abit. I can't really comment on them as I have an Asus. But there's something you should definately know - "brand loyalty" isn't everything.

Since I've been an ASUS fan (reliability and all that) I was about th recommend the A8N to my friend... until I saw the numerous posts regarding the problems. That's fine - most of these have probably been resolved. I don't mean to troll or anything - but "brand loyalty" can't always be applied to boards. Now, of course everything has exceptions. Some boards tend to be more overclocable than others...etc.

Get what board fits your situation (budget, overclocability, features). It's not the brand, it's the board. "Good" brands can come out with bad boards (the asus for example), but "bad" brands can come out with good boards as well (soltek made a good nf3 entry).

Neopower is fine, like Insomniak said.

4) This one I have to agree with. I read so many problems about Maxtors, not just failing, but also causing other issues, that I find them impossible to recommend any more. I suggest SeaGate and Western Digital, preferably SeaGate.

I agree. I've had lots of problems with maxtor in the past. Then again, it could have just been a bad egg... it happens sometimes.

I prefer seagate, as most of them have FDB motors (long term quietness) and long warantees (5 year warantees)

Now, that doesn't stop me from buying maxtor again... They could come back with a kickass drive.

Get whtaever one suits your budget.

Bottom line: Brand names don't matter - the product does.
Bottom Line 2: High post count doesn't matter at all. It could simply be some trollers or people who post a lot on ATOT (AnandTech Off Topic) :p.

Back to the original post:
I've actually seen this case at a LAN Party. It looks pretty sharp (but then again, looks are subjective). The noise.... well.... it was definately the loudest thing at our lan party so we just increased our speaker volume :p.

I wouldn't worry too much about the noise though, I've seen comptuers with vantecs and sunons and deltas ... and oh my god, after hearing those, the tsunami is NOTHING :p.

If you haven't heard a delta (200 CFM - TWO.. HUNDRED.. CFM!) - think about SOMEONE SCREAMING RIGHT IN YOUR EARS.

Yeah!

That should make you feel better about the Tsunami :p. If you're really concerned about the noise, just get a couple panaflow L1A's (L1A means Low, M1A means Mediu, and H1A means loud).

Uh - one last thing though. It seems as though people who say that the Tsunami is loud, run the fans at max speed. Err... hook it up to the 'FAN_ONLY' thing of your power supply (I think that's what it's called). I don't think you'll be running these fans on full load except on games (where you can simply turn up the speakers ;)).

I have the MSI KT7 (the KT7 might not be exact since it is from memory)

Well, to be precise we have two computers each with MSI boards.

Well, to be precised, we have two computers one that has had 2 MSI boards because the first one went bad and is now in the shop. Probably because the MOBO went bad. My Wifes computer is working fine but is on it's third MOBO as the first two went bad.

Ok, to sum that up, two computers both purchased in 2001. Total 5 MSI MOBOs and possibly the fifth one may have bit the dust. If so, it will not be replaced with an MSI.

To be fair.... ;) it only took a total of 6 weeks in the shop for MSI to honor the warranties of the first two MOBOs and only 3 days for the shop to honor their warranty. Plus, a friend of mine purchased (indepenently but at the same time) the same MOBO and his has never had a problem.

Do not buy this case!

Pros:

Looks great!

Cons:

If you have a PS with adjustable pots forget ever taking it out after the build
Tooless design took alot of brainpower to make it lousy
Front door is on too tight and the door to the drives opens together.
You will either need to buy the Aerogate 3 fan controller (no knobs) of buy new fans. Underpowering the fans gets the noise down to a tolerable level.
Tight fit for all your drives. I wish the case was an inch or two longer.

If I had to do it over I would have spent a few more dollars and got something better. As it is I paid for a fan controller that I really didn't need to make the fans were quieter.

If your buying this case for casual needs, maybe you're doing a bad choice, but if you have in mind to overcloock.... ohhhhhh, that's another thing.

Any people who overclock a little knows that sound will always be an issue. (Well, depend on the money you're willing to put for a silent system)

In reality, it's one of the best case for a good airflow.

But if u want it to be quieter u could try replacing the front (or back if u want, but the back seems to be better for some reason IMO) and getting some Panaflo's and a fan speed controller.

However, just make sure that the knobs on the controller dont interfere with the closing door!!!

Just a question... ( nothing to do with the thread)

how come you only have 4600 in 3d mark 05, i get 5202 with a p4 2.8 oc to 3.5 and an x800 pro oc to xt values ( 12 pipes only )?

and if anyone one have any questions just tell me what kinf of pic do you want and where can i post it...
