I actually just placed an order for the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R from Newegg, and I'm hoping to get a rev. 2.1, although I think it's going to be a crapshoot. This doesn't sit too well with me because I didn't do much research when selecting this board and it's also on the high end of price IMO.

My RAM is 4x2GB Corsair DDR2 800 Twin2X4096-6400C5 at 1.9V.
700W Fortron PSU
Water cooling (Apogee + NB chipset block)

I think I should be able to get some 120mm fans blowing directly at the mobo, so hopefully MOSFET and SB overheating can be combated with simple air. I don't think overheating is really going to be an issue.

So which mobo should I go with?

Is there a dirt cheap but crazy overclockable mobo? The ABIT IP35-E seems to fit the bill nicely, and it looks like it even has a heatsink over the MOSFETs, something the Gigabyte doesn't have. Will this clock as high as the Gigabyte?

I NEED this to run Vista x64 reliably. I don't want any crazy mobo driver issues and stuff.

Any other opinions? Max I'm willing to pay is $130 (what the P35 DS3R is).

You mean, G0 not A0. :p If you have already placed an order, try the board first. Gigabyte has a very big user pool and many will be able to help you out. So does Abit, but I wouldn't cheap out on moterboards if possible. (Unless you're going to use them temporarily) Also I highly suggest you install Vista with 4GB of RAM or even 2GB. Install SP1 right away. Then install the rest of RAM.

Hi fellow photographer!

I think the ip35-e would be a good choice.

i have the pro version of this board and have had it since july of 2007 which says a lot since i pretty much switch motherboards almost every 2-3 months. :)

Another vote for the Abit IP35-E, i ran it with an overclocked Q6600 GO / Vista 64 / 8GB Gskill ddr1000 ram (2gb x 4 sticks).
Overclocked and ran stable as a rock.

I ran my Q6600 at 3.3ghz on a daily basis, the ONLY reason i didnt run my cpu higher was due to running on air cooling...NOT because the mobo wouldnt do it.
As a matter of fact my Abit IP35-E does 500fsb pretty darn easily.

Now as far as cooling an overclocked Q6600 on air, i have a Tuniq Tower and my temps would get into the mid 60c's at anything over 3.3ghz.
I was never comfortable with those temps, so i kept the overclock low.

I dont believe i ever saw how far my Q6600 would go simply because the temps scared me too much to try anything above 3.4ghz on air.

I'll put in a vote for my motherboard, the DFI LT P35-T2R. I'm running a G0 @ 3.5GHz on it, with 8Gig of RAM and Vista-64 without problems.

I would also vote for the DFI p35 boards.

If you can find the DFI P35 Blood Iron in stock I would pick one up they seem to clock quads among the best.

I thought she had already ordered her board? DFI is always a safe bet when it comes to overclocking. Although I wish they figure something out so that CPU, NB, and GPU are all lumped up on the top-left corner of the board. DFI BIOS and engineering + ASUS layout and features would be a perfect-ish board. :D

Uhhh... these are a full $70 more than the max I'm willing to pay.

FBB -

There is a high end P35 board that DFI has which Garfield was referring to.

The one that Yoxxy was pointing out is the more budget conscious one.

The link provided above me is to the Blood Iron which is a great board as well.

I have the Gigabyte DS3R and it overclocks very nicely - over 450 FSB. If you've already ordered at least try it out.
