I've been preoccupied with building my plane and I would like to get a DVD burner. I was just at newegg and the NEC 3500A 16x looks pretty good for 75 bucks and free s/h Anyone have any other recommendations.

I have the Pioneer 108. It works great and I have no complaints. The NEC 3500 is a good burner too, and so is the latest LG. For the prices of these drives you can't go wrong.

Did you try a search of "DVD"?

(plain search)
thread 1
thread 2
etc., even more in Advanced Search with Archived threads.

Also in the results are answers to your next 4 questions:
"dvd + or -?", "which media brands?", "where to buy media?", "what software to use?"

Lite-On 12x is what I use, I have one in my home machine and about 25 in work computers, they have worked flawlessly

You know what, I'm tired of you search and repost nazi's like you Dave. How 'bout you just shut up unless you got something constructive to say. Did you ever think I was looking for the most current opinions and info available?

My first link was started on 10/10, I don't think the world of DVD burners has changed much in 3 days.

My second link was specifically about the NEC 3500 you are interested in. It's a couple of weeks old, but again I don't think NEC has changed that exact model much in the last 2 weeks.

You mght be tired of search Nazis (which are a different breed from Repost Nazis), but I'm tired of people too lazy or self-centered to spend 5 seconds to see whether their question has already been answered in another thread.

It's rude to make helpful people choose between ignoring your question, or taking time to give the exact same answer that they've already given in several other threads.

It's aslo self-defeating, since you miss all the replies from people in earlier threads who choose not to answer the same question yet again.

Sorry, gonna have to agree with Dave here... Take 5 seconds, type in "DVD" in the search bar on the left, and browse through the results. Instant answers.. how hard could that be?

1. he answered you constructively ALREADY by searching FOR YOU. is that *not constructive* enough?
2. most current opinions? I don't think you are getting anything from the "archives" when you hit the search button.
