Been out of the Laptop loop

I used to stay on top of everything in the tech world but life got busy and I haven't really kept up on it like I should. Looking at getting a new laptop and was wondering what's what for under $500. I don't need anything high end. Core i3/i5 is fine and I'm gonna be sticking an SSD in anyway. This will be used for office tasks and light browsing with maybe a bit of lightroom thrown in from time to time. I don't really have an extreme brand preference. I just want something solid and reliable.

The HP-g6t2000 is pretty hard to beat for the price if you need a new laptop post-haste.

If you're not in a rush, I would consider waiting until we see the haswell chips trickle into notebooks/ultrabooks. They've done fantastic things for battery life in the new MBA.
