First one on the ground about 20 minutes away from where I am right now, looks to be a big one. They're saying conditions are looking to be good for a repeat of 4/27/2011.

Have family out in the middle of the country so all of these events can be a little scary. So far they've never been affected but there's always a chance.

Hmm... I haven't even heard the sirens go off yet.

...and I would hope that they learned their lessons from 2011. We mostly got in such a bad spot because a tornado knocked out the only lines taking power from TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) to northern Alabama. It also didn't help that Browns Ferry got shutdown for a bit.

Remember, it doesn't matter if you are qualified or not, you are obligated to pull over and perform whatever surgery is necessary on any distraught person you come across. Otherwise you are a huge dick that the internet will hang.

Bonus points if you block the narrow country roads so that the real first responders have trouble accessing the area.

Ahh... that makes me wonder why certain areas always seem to be targeted by tornadoes as I usually hear about them in Athens and Harvest. I recall hearing a story from my old-old neighbor about how this family a few miles north of me lost their home in 2011, and a few months after it was rebuilt, they lost it again in 2012. 🙁
 
Boy aren't we so glad winter ended. I just love mowing grass, battling wasps and mosquitos, sweating, and tornadoes. Especially the tornadoes. And to think we still have droughts and hurricane season to look forward to. Ahhh spring. It just puts a song in my heart.
 
Damn what a bad rash of storms...rouge cells heading towards metro-Atlanta now as well.

People are dying right now, no bueno.
 
After having done my time in the mid-west, I can happily say that I'm glad I no longer live there for exactly this reason. As nice decent bearable as the area is, the constant (and rational) fear of tornados wears you down.

Good luck to all the mid-west AT'ers and here's to hoping you come out okay.🙂 Even those of you who reside in your mom's basement on a regular basis.😛

The guy that died in Tuscaloosa was in the basement. Retaining wall feel on him. :\

Yep, they had one rip through Tuscaloosa last night. There was also one headed for Phil Campbell again, not sure if they actually got hit (again) or not though.

So far up here around our area we're hearing about 30,000 or so total people without power and a handful of confirmed deaths.
