I have.

Wife, son, and I went to Wild Animal Park and did the Safari Ride through the park. We got up and close to the animals in their environment. Awesome experience! I highly recommend it.

When we were in Kenya, they warned us not to get close to giraffes' heads because the giraffes had a habit of swinging their heads around, and they had a couple people knocked out cold from a giraffe headbutt.

They warned us not to try to pet the giraffes because they would pull their head away and might injure themselves or one of us.

We fed them leaves and things they normally eat. It was part of a guided tour the Wild Animal Park does, we were in the back of a truck and a park guide was with us the entire time. It's not illegal. It was however, really really cool! The only animals we fed were the giraffes and the rhinos.
 
I fed a full grown giraffe a banana once. It was awesome. Giraffes are such funny and fascinating animals. Too bad the place didn't take better care of most of their animals.

lol reminds me of when we went to this zoo in Montreal. Same idea except you were in your own car and no guide tour. You could drive around and stop when you wanted. Open up the windows and the animals would stick their heads in your car. The ostriches were the funniest. The way they peck is so funny. I got my finger bitten pretty good lol.
 
We did the same at Busch Gardens a couple of years ago. They let the kids put a big piece of lettuce in their mouth and let the giraffes grab it out. They had a blast.
 
Yes actually I have been licked by a giraffe. I think I was in the zoo in Kuala Lumpur more than 10 years back. We got to feed the giraffe and yes they licked our hands and face a bit. Very cute friendly seeming, though I'm sure in the wild they would be very skitish.

I agree. However if it promotes saving them in the wild in any way I'm for it. Though I'm basically against keeping animals in captivity otherwise.
 
No, but I rode an elephant yesterday with my son. Seriously.

The San Diego Wild Animal park is a killer zoo though. Did you see the Cheetah exercise?
 
i haven't been licked by a giraffe,..
the only nonhuman creature that has licked me is my cat

how does it feel though? 😛
 
I too have been licked by a giraffe. Their tongues are intriguingly long and their heads much larger close up than they appear from a distance. Giraffe tongues feel like dog tongues except long and almost tubular.
