Alright I am bored and have nothing to do at work. ATOT is slow this morning so lets hear your arrest stories if any.

Was arrested but not charged (my GF at the time was the police Captn's niece) for having a car which fit the description of a burgler who had been evading police for some time. The arresting idiot, er officer, said afterwards that he "knew" I did it, and was going to prove it. Guess he is working for the Bush administration now :D

When I was in 9th grade I stole my parents car, and went out for a drive. My parents called the police, they pulled me over, put me in handcuffs, took me down to the juvenile detention center, kept me there overnight, then my parents came on got me in the morning. They filed charges, I got probation for a year and 100 hours of community service. I deserved what I got though, no complaints.

Who files charges against their own kid?

Came close. Got a ride in the back of the car to my house when I was pulled over for speeding and had been drinking. I was 19 at the time and was only 1/2 mile from the house. Thought I was in the clear when he dropped me off until he said, "go get your parents for me, I'd like to talk to them"

My dad came back in the house, gave me a look and said, "get your ass to bed".

Never spoke of it again and it never happened again :).

I would (and yes I have a kid).

One good way to teach accountability.

Oh, not an arrest, but I got beat by a cop once when I was in my early teens. Apparently I resembled someone they were looking for. It was ok though. They didn't arrest me, just left me bleeding on the sidewalk.

Couple of close calls in foreign countries, nothing domestic...

I almost got arrested in Mexico for public exposure, taking a leak in the trees while walking back to my hotel from a bar, but I gave the cop $40 to let me go.

I also almost got "arrested" in Kusadasi, Turkey, too but made a run for it. I'm pretty sure the guy wasn't a cop anyways, but a mugger or kidnapper trying to trick me into going with him.

Yeah, screw filing charges against your kids. Punish them yourself, instead of letting the law punish them, and have a permanent strike on their record.

It's not permanent. Erased when they hit 18.

EDIT: And I'm not going to let my kid think Mommy and Daddy will fix it for them whenever they screw up. Some things you gotta learn on your own.

For those of you that haven't heard my past story, I was arrested and charged with Illegal Transportation of a Controlled Substance on a Public Highway several years ago.

To teach me a lesson. I've never even come remotely close to doing anything that could land me back in jail since then. My experience there was much less than pleasant, and it was just a Juvenile Center. I agree with their method, though at the time I thought it was harsh.

Two times, both for refusing to pay tickets. Needless to say they got paid.

The second time was actually worth the $$ though. While I was down in the holding area, there was this drunk guy, REALLY pissed off. The put him in a solitary cell and he just got up next to the door and started screaming. Then he saw them bring me in and he started talking to me -

Drunk guy - "Hey cracka, yeah you, you see that officer in front of you? He's a pussy! YOU HEAR THAT, YOU'RE A PUSSY OFFICER..."
Me - "..."
Drunk guy - "I know you can hear me b1tch, yous a PUSSY! B1tch ass piece of sh1t! When I get out of here, I will beat yo' motherfvcking ass"

He basically recycled this entire conversation for the next 10 minutes, just adding new curse words into it. I just sat back and laughed, the officers thought it was pretty funny too. Then it got REALLLL good.

In the cell adjacent to this guys solitary cell, they had one with 2 women in it. One was trying to sleep, the other had been in a car wreck because she was drunk. The slightly drunk lady came up and started knocking on the plastic -

Lady - "Hello, officer, I need some medicine"
Officer - "Ma'am, we cannot give you any medicine because you're currently under the influence. Its a liability to us that we can't take"
Lady - "But I need some medicine! Damnit give me some medicine" *starts hitting the holding cell door with her fist*
Officer - "Do you even know how you got here? You were in a car wreck because you're drunk. We can't give you anything."
Lady - "Damint!!! What the fvck! I want some goddamn medicine!" *starts kicking the holding cell door"
Officer - "Don't kick my door or I'll have to come in there and restrain you."
Drunk guy - "Hey, hey b1tch! You want some d1ck??"

At that point almost everyone who was sober started cracking up... it was too funny. The warrant they had me in on was only $150, so I just paid my way out. Best trip to jail I ever had. :)

that was better than when I was locked up...the only thing we had to keep us entertained was the guy that never came out of his cell (yes I was actually in jail, not just a holding cell.) The guy would stand in front of his door and f@p all day, every day. He was there for 3 days before they finally hauled him off. I assume they took him down to solitairy.

Good to hear.. My brother was having problems last year... (14 years old) my parents did the same thing. Called the cops let them take him in and kept him there to sweat it out.

I think it worked like a charm.. He's been on his best behaviour ever since.
