Good news: Actually, no. The reason one eye or the other gets blurry is that by adjusting your glasses, you move the center of the lens for your eye. Usually, when they put the lenses in the frames, they use the distance between the pupils and center it. But, because your nose is asymmetrical, the distance to each pupil is different if your glasses were on your face correctly. This is something that your optometrist SHOULD be able to correct. He or she should not be using a single pupillary distance; they should be using a dual pupillary distance, where the distance on each side is different. You need to point this out next time you visit, if you prefer buying glasses at your local optometrist.

Online sites like Zennioptical (dot com) do allow for a different distance on each side, and have a set of instructions explaining the measurements, as well as a printable ruler that fits on the bridge of your nose. Take a quick look (click on order for any frames, and the pop-up for prescription comes up) and you can see where the dual box is that allows for a different distance to each pupil.
