I r considering plants solely to increase the agreeability of the air and thus quality of sleep whilst partaking of same in a clos'd room. Negated by malodorous soil? Folly?

Don't do it man. At night, when you're in the room sleeping, those plants that spent all day releasing oxygen are going to take it all back and release CO2 into the night air. You could die.

plants don't use that much oxygen. its like saying having another person in the house is gonna make the oxygen run out!
