Context man...context. Do you remember when you were that age? How much of what you said did you actually mean, and more importantly actually have the determination and resources to carry out?

....and on top of all this, I notice a conspicuous absence of what was actually said on those websites. Why the need to omit it if the action is justified?

One student, 18-year old Joseph Sanchez, was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor; he helped the younger male set up and maintain his website.

Poor bastard probably just provided hosting and a CSS template for them🙁

Wtf...There HAS to be more to this. There just has to be...Cyber-bullying? Are people really such cry babies now a days that they get their panties in a bunch because someone treats them badly on the internet?

Unless the site in question had death threats or something similar, I'm going to call this 'charge' bullshit. I mean "poems with threatening language" sure, whatever. What some people consider "threatening language" someone else might consider nothing to be bothered about.

Yeah, I'd have to see the actual page before I believe this story about it being Cyber-bullying or *cough* Cyber-stalking.

This sounds like some of the dozens of whiney people I know on the internet. They flame and flame, but get all bent out of shape when someone returns the favor. Jeez people, I know these kids were only 14 and 15, but let's grow up a little bit.

Students Arrested for Cyber Bullying

We all know about high school bullying but have you heard of cyber-bullying? It's real and three Loranger High School students have been arrested for it. You're looking at computer equipment confiscated as part of the Attorney General's High Tech Crimes Unit investigation.

They say the bullying started when a 15-year-old female student created a website picking on a 14-year old male student. He responded with his own site featuring poems with threatening language. A concerned parent alerted the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff, and he contacted authorities.

They say the language was so graphic, it crossed the line and is considered "cyber-stalking," which is a felony. Kris Wartelle with the Attorney General's Office said, "It sort of was like bullying on the Internet that got even worse, and we're lucky it didn't escalate to something even worse."

One student, 18-year old Joseph Sanchez, was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor; he helped the younger male set up and maintain his website. The pair called themselves the "8-Ballas," and their poems targeted a group of students they called the "Preps."

Tangipahoa Parish

This is 10 minutes west of me.

They are charging them with Felony counts, will these kids be facing 120 yrs prison time???

Personally, I'd like to see what was actually said on those web sites before I pass judgement.

But, hey, that's just me.

Felony is not warranted at all ... but some people act as though anyone and everyone should be allowed to say anything they want 😉

The charges should be dropped way way down from a felony.. just enough to get their attention.

Exactly, I would love to see the sites.

Yup, there's some people around here that are desperate for personal information from other posters-- scarily so. Nooo thanks. I'll leave the what's-your-address and picture threads to you guys. 😛

I'm reminded of the guy with the name "No Fingers" in his profile ragging on you for not enabling your profile. 🙂

Indeed. Getting hate PMs is one thing; getting real life hate from enraged hardliners is quite another. 🙂

Here is more details, basically a 15 yr old girl put up a website and called a classmate Gay.

Another student put up Poem Lyrics that the Christain Authorities consider Religiously Obscene.

1-6-2005Students booked with cyber stalking

Joseph Sanchez, 18, 50355 La. 445, Robert, and a 14-year-old boy allegedly created a Web site that had links to poems with "bloodthirsty lyrics" and a list of "preppie" or popular students, Deputy Jimmy Travis said.

A 15-year-old girl who was also arrested allegedly harassed a male student while using a male chat name, and then later set up a Web site where she posted the victim's photograph and called him a homosexual, Travis said.

The teenagers' alleged illegal activities were discovered during the holiday break when a parent contacted Sheriff Daniel Edwards Dec. 29.

Cyber bullying is becoming prevalent nationwide as teenagers replace talking on the telephone with chatting on the Internet.
