n00b:)

You are aware that with many styles of music, like house music(the stuff I play), scratching is generally not done? I saw Louie DeVito live(if you don't know, he one of the best DJ's on the east coast), he beatmixed all night, and did not scratch. If you are spinning a form of dance music, you beatmix all night long. n00b.

Beatmixing on decks is one thing, but he's using a program which is quite different, hence the n00b :D
If you saw Louie DeVito get onstage with a laptop you would be screaming for him to get off

They don't use a program to do it though :)

ah...thought you were getting at something else, my bad. Some of those programs can beatmix fairly well though....but I sure as hell would never use one live.

take song A. Song A is playing so everyone can hear it. Cue up song B in headphones. match the beats so that you mix from song A into song B, and it sounds like one continous song.

So, like crossfading in winamp, but cooler...

much cooler. Optimally, if you are the DJ at a club, the best beatmix is one people don't notice. A minute or so into the second song the people on the floor are like hey new song....

Yeah NuclearFusion, ever since your other thread, I've been sitting here playing on Traktor DJ Studio. And I have been QUITE unproductive in other things, thank you very much. :D

Beatmixing on a computer (by ear) is like using cd decks...somewhat respectable, just dont let the computer do all the work.
