Apple has asked a bankruptcy court judge for permission to sue Eastman Kodak over alleged patent infringement.

The iPhone maker filed its request with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York. Apple says that it plans to file a complaint against Kodak with the International Trade Commission (ITC), as well as a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court of Manhattan, for allegedly violating patents it holds related to printers, digital picture frames, and digital cameras.

As Bloomberg, which first reported on the request, points out, Apple isn't required to ask the bankruptcy court for permission to sue Kodak. However, in the court filing, Apple said that it was seeking approval "out of an abundance of caution."
Why don't they buy the damn company and their 1100 patents instead?

Well, they are facing their own problems in the Infringment arena... There is a possible ban on exporting iPads from China. If it goes through they won't be able to make iPads there and will have to start production elsewhere.

Too bad for China that Apple has the most experienced, savage, battle hardened army of lawyers in the world.

I find it funny how Apple operates its business and the image of people that buy its products.

This sounds like an unbelievably petty control freak move. Are we sure Steve Jobs isn't still running the company from beyond the grave?

If there's a hell, I hope Steve Jobs is in it.

Yeah. Apple made it's image by marketing to liberalish artsy namby pamby nonconformist types and yet is run in the most ruthlessly capitalist manner of any tech corporation I can think of. Not that I care, but it is funny.

Steve Jobs>>>>> all past and current Apple CEO. Hope his soul is burning in Hell where he rightly belongs. :sneaky:

A douche move indeed, but the strong plunder and the weak perish.
This not not forebode well for patents creators and then blatantly stolen by others. 🙁
