If you want a game like this that'll make you cry at how hard it is, find a game called HellSinker. Providing that you find it, if you can get past the 3rd stage I will personally drive to your house and shake your hand.

Tsk, seems it's not a flash game.

Had the same with Project X on the Amiga btw (back in the old days), where dying once meant you lost all weapon powerups. And without those you could not get past level 2 (all the monsters got harder, level 2 monsters would not die without almost max weapons, and wouldn't drop powerups without dying).
And as the level 2 end boss was a pain I think I may have gotten to level 3 once, but immediately dying there at the start.

It used to be freely available for download on doujinstyle.com but they JUST switched to only forums in the past few days. A shame really, since they had some great games on there.

10 levels. I beat it the first time, was almost too easy, but my score sucked so I guess I'm still not that good at it 🙂 I got like 340 or something close.
 
It stopped doing anything in Stage 2. What did I do wrong?
I had a decent multiplier going too, but then after I killed a few waves, no more enemies came.
I wasn't playing with sound, so if anything was being said that explained the extremely long, seemingly endless pause in violence, then I missed it. ANd I got bored and quit.

What gives? Did I have some weird fluke where the game crapped on me?
 
I played this game a while ago and cant stay entertained with it long enough to finish it again. If I recall it was around 320
