Bears vs Packers......Week #1 (Sept.5.2019)

New season is already upon us. The NFL kicks off on Thursday night with the Bears vs Packers.

Prediction:
Packers 40
Bears 17

Aaron Rodgers will shake off the rust and have a decent opener. Bears will start as a mediocre team and stay mediocre.

Desean Jackson is going to burn Josh Norman on the first play of the game and catch a 75yd touchdown from Wentz.

The Eagles will go on to beat the Redskins 49-7 in their season opener.

Doubt this is Brady's last year unless he suffers an injury like Alex Smith's broken leg. Hell even then I'm not sure I'd say it'd be his last season. Now, I could possibly see it being his last season in New England.

It'll be Rofflesburger's last year though as he won't be able to blame the drama on Bell or Brown or the OC. Tomlin probably follows a year later after he too runs out of scapegoats to blame the drama on.

I bet Rodgers and the new coach get into an argument in the first game, because Rodgers start calling plays in the huddle (doesn't even audible out of them he just calls his own plays). Coach tries to bench Rodgers at half time, causes the team to revolt. After the game he swears there's no disagreement or anything. Rodgers doesn't say much. I'm calling a 9-7 win by the Bears. Rodgers opens with a TD drive. Bears get a TD and a safety, and end up deciding to use Trubisky as their kicker after their kickers miss 5 FGs.

Giants GM trades Eli Manning to the Broncos for Brock Osweiler, then tries to gloat that "see I'm not as stupid, it worked out better as its actually Joe Flacco!"

Miami swears they're not tanking despite taking a knee for every offensive play and only putting 7 guys on defense. Somehow Fitzpatrick manages games where he throws 6TDs and then one where he throws 6INTs. He does that while they implement their 2 minute drill offense (i.e. kneeling). They somehow win a game which almost ruins their attempt at tanking.

So excite the NFL starts tomorrow. Final episode of Hard Knocks had me giddy last night.

I forgot about that and that it was on HBO. Looked on my other streaming services and couldn't find it. *shakes old man fist at all the streaming services*

Sunday Night:

Patriots
Steelers

Good Sunday Night opener. Maybe Tom Brady's last year.
I am a Brady and Patriots fan, but he should have retired last year and gone out on top like Gronk did. I think it will be a tough year without him (Gronk).
As for the Packers and Bears tomorrow, too bad they cant both lose!! I think the Bears will fall back to middle of the pack this year. Although I am a Vikings fan and hate the Packers, I think they will win the division unless Rogers gets hurt (again), or throws too many hissy fits.

Dayum, I've always loved Sanu in fantasy football as my ultimate no-brainer WR3/bye week guy, but didn't realize he has one helluva arm.

WOW!

Just heard that Antonio Brown is being suspended by the Raiders due to something that happened between him and Mike Mayoch.

Listening to the radio right now so don't know details yet.

hmm. I actually watched through all of Hard Knocks last night after you mentioned it (forgot they were still running that show). In the last ~2 episodes, Mayock did hold that small press "conference" regarding the helmet, saying that the organization had suspended all options regarding the issue, and that Brown will have to decide if wants to get on board or not. That wasn't really addressed after that, only near the end that Brown had been working with the newest helmet and getting used to it.

Gruden was publicly backing Brown, but obviously that's a huge contradiction from Mayock. Honestly...Gruden seemed pretty damn annoyed by the whole thing, but I think was honest when claiming "I like that the guy is standing up for his conviction."

So, I bet some fallout from what Mayock told those handful of press people.

Anyway, I love Gruden so much. He's just so fun to watch because he's like a 12 year-old having his best day all the time, whenever he is around football, and also angry for no reason. and lol @ that one speech: "Lots of people have dreams. Everyone has a dream coming into the NFL. Fuck that! I don't want you to have dreams. This is a NIGHTMARE! I want you to take away that guy's dreams, and give him fucking NIGHTMARES!"

Getting even better.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, there are "those around the league" who believe the Raiders could look to void the $30.125 million Antonio Brown is owed in guaranteed money.
While the NFLPA has not been notified of any official suspension, word out of Oakland is that Brown will be facing discipline of some sort following an altercation with GM Mike Mayock (who fined AB for his unexcused absence from training camp), casting his Week 1 status in doubt. Now Schefter is hearing that the Raiders may take it a step further by voiding Brown's guarantees, which "obviously would end his time in Oakland." Brown's deteriorating relationship with the Raiders and Mayock in particular may be beyond repair. Tyrell Williams would be the biggest beneficiary of Brown's suspension (or his outright release), though his downfield leanings don't exactly mesh with Derek Carr's skill set.

What an anti-climax for the much ballyhooed hundredth anniversary game. Like I said earlier, I think the Bears are highly over-rated.
