He never said that they wanted it ready for showtime!! What he said was that even if Oklahoma beat Kansas, it would not justify removing Cincinnati from the No. 1 seed, therefore they left Cincinnati as No.1.
I am a Cincinnati fanatic, I am just as shocked as anyone else they got a No. 1 seed.
It was also stated that Cincinnati held that 4/5 place in the National rankings, after coming from an unranked beginning long enough to convince committee that this was proper.
The team that got screwed the most was Memphis. They did not get in and they are better than at least a dozen of the teams in there!!
