The festival is located in downtown Memphis, in the spacious and beautiful Tom Lee Park right on the Mississippi River. Tickets can be purchased through Ticket Master, they are ONLY $45 for all THREE days. Prices go UP after April 23rd, so order tickets before then.

I've attended this event for years, and the weather in Memphis for this event can be chilly (mid 40's) and rainy (and thus very muddy), or 70's and sunny as hell. Dress for the worst, pray for the best.

Two weeks after the Music Festival is a HUGE BBQ festival, there will be literally thousands of booths with ribs, shoulder, sandwiches, chicken, if it can be bbq'd they will bbq it. These people are serious about their BBQ, but they know how to have fun, too. Music, dance floors, three-story booths, and I've never seen a booth that was kegless.

Enjoy!

Ah...my last time in Memphis a co-worker and I hit the bars along Beale St. We walked into one and a guy playing guitar looked and sounded just like Stevie Ray Vaughn!

It's been reported that ZZ Top randomly appears at BB King's and performs, I've never caught it of course. I moved downtown last year and I'm loving it. There is always some good music somewhere on Beale, or even elsewhere.

My cousin went there last year, said it was an absolute blast. (They all live in Germantown) I may be tempted to go down there on vacation and go there with him. Although I do have to say - if it's hot, I get burned out after just one day, much less 3.

It is a blast, like I said I've attended for as long as I can remember, probably the last 10+ years. It's fun as hell. I did not mention the food, there will plenty of vendors selling a lot of good food to help control the beer buzz 😉 (and porta-potties). Last year I lived on beer, cigarettes, pot and turkey legs for three days straight. There may have been a pronto-pup (big corn dog basically) in there, I don't remember 😱

BTW, I actually grew up in Germantown, my parental units still live there.

I love Memphis. Going there tomorrow as a matter of fact.

Enjoy! And if you are out east, check out Owen Brennan's (Poplar and Ridgeway) for dinner or lunch (Sunday brunch is awesome), my brother should be working tomorrow.

Man I'd love to go on the Sunday show to see Johnny Winters, Elvis Costello, Billy Idol and War!

Yeah, Sunday is going to be a blast, and it's also my birthday 🙂

But, my friends and I are mostly excited to see the Black Crowes.

Wow, very similar lineup to this year's JazzFest. Guess lots of the artists are just shuttling back & forth between Memphis and NO.

I've seen them and they were pretty good. If Johnny Winters still has his chops you'll love him if you like the Black Crowes. I always thought he was much better than his brother Edgar.

War should be great too, I saw them probably over 25+ years ago (Cisco Kid and Low Rider are two of my Favorite songs from that era)

Saturdays show has Little Feat who were fantastic during their time but with Lowel George deceased I have to wonder how good they are now.

We'll probably go see Johny Winters, we saw Edgar at an Italian Festival a couple of years ago, not a bad show, it was fun. War is definitely on our list, too. If you've never seen Jonny Lang, he is fantastic, that young man can really play some blues, reminds me a little of SRV.

Yeah, some are also playing in Nashville after the Memphis festival. They have a nice little amphitheatre there, I saw a David Lee Roth/Sammy Hagar show there last year, and Roger Waters (who may tour again) a couple of years back.

Good times in Memphis.

Haven't been there since I was stationed in Millington for my Avionics school, but I remember getting drunk off my ass walking around during the festival. I think I saw the Black Crowes back in '91 for the festival, but I can't remember much of anything else.

 Great city.

went 3 years ago - it was an awesome fest, wish i could make it this year again, but timing is off
definitely reccommend that anyone debating it go and have a blast, just bring your own catheter line as the lines for the port-o-lets are always monstrous!
