This guy sandblasted his homebrew GPU cooler to clean it up, "...and further provides a micro-porous surface for enhanced heat transfer."
My experience with sandblasting is that the pressure would be enough to tear the hell out of the fins, and to do at a low enough pressure the blaster nozzle would have to be too big to work well. Beadblasting would give a similar finish, and could be done at a fairly low pressure. Would beadblasting the fins improve this great heatsink?
 
Yeah, theres not really much point:

The guy in the original article sandblasted the HS to get rid of all the 'black crap', hopefully theres none of that on your SK6...
 
Still wondering about it, but I can't seem to justify the labour involved. Not that there'd be much. I guess I'm lazy!
 
Well Nathan, looking at an SK6, the cooling fins look thin and fragile. You might actually break the HS... 🙁
