I've just put together a PC built around a BE6-II MB. It wont BOOT up. I switch the power on and all the fans start-up, the hdd starts up but that's about it. I get no lights on the keyboard, no bleeps and the screen remains dormant.

What have I done to troubleshoot: -

Changed video cards (AGP to PCI)
moved memory into differnet slots
taken the MB out of the case and tried
Only had the floppy drive connected, no hdd
Taken everything out and re-seated.

What more can I try or is this a case of knackered motherboard?

SYSTEM
Abit BE6-11 rev 1.0x
PIII 700E Slot 1
Cube 128mb PC100 DIMM
Diamond Viper II AGP (Also tried with an old Matrox PCI card)
Maxtor Diamondmax + 40 10gb

Thanks in advance

PJ

you could have a short, try removing all the screws and make sure that there are no metal posts behind the mobo, that you may have missed.

I've had the MB out of the case altogether, sitting on an anti-static bag on the table but still the same.

Me to!
I installed it yesterday and had the same problems as you, finally I got it started, dont ask how. It could have been the cpu not being exactly on the right place.
But I have problems with the pci-cards, I had to move around my modemcard until it finally booted up.My soundblaster doesnt work and if I connect my printer it doesnt boot. Probably something with the irq and I dont know what to do.

Common problems are cpu, sdram, video card not fully seated - sometimes have to be pushed in rather firmly.

Remove the memory, or Video card, and you should get beeps. If not, the CPU or mobo is N.G. Reseat the CPU a couple of times, very firmly. LOL
