Be Truthfull: Checking Accounts

What is the longest time period you have ever gone without completely balancing you checking account. I know quite a few people that check over the phone or online to see how much they have, but they never balance out the account. The keep an approximate virtual balance in their minds---but never know for sure.

I haven't balanced my secondary checking account since October of 1999.

i haven't written anything down in my checkbook since i opened the account here in January of 2001. before that, probably another 2 years.

so i guess 4 years or so....i only check online.

Whats "balancing your checking account"?

I heard its a record of your transactions of withrdawls and deposits and such? Is that all?

I just look at my balance and transactions online. Is there something I'm supposed to be doing?

Do you actively use you secondary checking account? I have an acct that I have not balanced in 3 years, but there is only $50 collecting interest.

Yes

7 years

Since my bank introduced online banking in 1996.

Recently I moved all my accounts to a competing credit union because they actually care about their customers, no fees for anything, great rates and friendly service. And they have online banking as well 🙂

I use it only in emergencies.

Well, I haven't balanced my checking account since i got it. But then, I am in college, and don't have alot, so Iknow about how mcuh I have at all times. I actually almost never write checks, btu using my debit card. I think thats where the downfall of balancing accounts came from, there is no physical recond, and you don't pull your check book out and write down each transaction, if you did, what would be the convience of using a check card?

I've never balanced a checking account in my life, & I've only written one check ever (two weeks ago, one of the saddest days of my life).

Some people will make up stuff just because it sounds good, or because they are too embarrased.

Were you being sarcastic, or.. what happened?

I haven't balanced my checkbook since late 1999. Since then, I've always just watched my account online. (It has been a little more tricky since I've been working full time, and have real bills, but I've gotten used to it. )
