Rob Waters at Hatewatch happened to catch the above short-lived video the other day: It advises President Obama and other prominent people (Our Dear Leader and co.) to leave now and give us our country back and to do so by next week. If you stay, the silent video message continues, We, The People will systematically dismantle you, destroy you and reclaim what is rightfully ours. We are angry and we are ready to take back the rights of the people. We will fight and We will win. Dead line for your national response: October 15, 2009 Thank you to all patriots who support our cause. Be prepared for when the fateful day of the declaration of war is nationally announced.

As the post notes in an update, the video was taken down shortly after it appeared on the SPLC site with no explanation. However, we managed to capture it before then and have reproduced it here in its original form, with a C&L tag at the end.

The "National Militia, Soldiers of Freedom" is not a known organization of any kind. Most likely it is some guy sitting in his basement.

What, a couple of nerds with airsoft guns will show up at the local townhall to "reclaim" the government?

If its likely the work of an unknown nut from a basement, It becomes why should I waste time on garbage.

If the person posting the message were real, there would be a real organization standing behind the threat.

But then again, if the threat is real, the organization will become real, and we will have a case of domestic terrorism.
After all, we have some real nuts in this country and they are armed to the teeth. And they could strike anywhere.
And if its an actual threat, I doubt the organization is very large, or someone would have blabbed.

Heh a group who wont show their faces and most likely live in their parents basement sends the OP into panic mode.

I'm sure we'll be seeing footage of the Secret Service dragging a couple of pimply-faced nerds from mom's basement shortly.

If the threat is real, it will likley turn into one of those bay or pigs things. As the group membership that talks only to themselves become convinced that everyone will spontaneously join them as soon as they show their faces and fire off a few guns.

And when they fire off those few guns, then and only then will they realize how wrong they were when no one joins them. And then its off to jail without fail.

A radical like Obama is going to breed a radical response. That's why he shouldn't have been elected with Media aiding his campaign.

How ironic is it that American pimply-faced teenagers fantasize about fighting for their freedom, in America? Sign of the times, I suppose.

It's a persecution complex. I see it quite frequently; people doing well and relatively well-off consumed by the idea that everything is unfair and that they are being "taxed to death." I wonder if they had ever seen genuine upheaval and poverty under a brutal authoritarian regime. After having visited some poor neighborhoods in Africa, I simply refuse to believe I have it that bad.

I also see this quite a bit with various religious groups. As if teaching science-based curriculum in science class is analagous to their tribulation.

WTF does Africa have to do with anything?

I mean, when Iranians hit the streets protesting their elections, did you chime in with the "people are starving in Africa" bullshit? I'm sure people were starving in Africa during the American Revolution, and unfortunately, people will still be starving in Africa for many years to come. Don't get me wrong, that sucks, but it shouldn't stand in the way of people searching for freedom elsewhere. ;)

Got a point?

Unless there was massive Election Fraud, nope, you do not. It sucks that someone Loses in an Election, but not having your Opinion/Agenda at the top of the Governments' Agenda is not a "Freedom" issue. Nor is it Oppression or some other Emo-Conservative whiny nonsense.

Not saying it shouldn't, I just find the persecution complex among many to be quite funny. It's as if they've forgotten what real persecution looks like. There's a difference between trying to have a logical discussion about micro and macroeconomic issues, constitutional freedoms, and fearing government death panels, the secularization of America, and taxation "to death." People in this country react as if they live in 3rd world conditions likely never having actually seen the 3rd world.
