I went looking for an authentic, old-school New York experience, and it found me.

Desire for "Pre-gentrified New York" Leads to Beating

"when I got to Bushwick, I knew I had finally found the New York I was searching for?a scrappy loft neighborhood full of young bohemians camping in their studios."

"It?s a bleak, rubble-strewn landscape pocked by cement factories and hemmed in by towering projects"

"Within 24 hours of my release from the hospital, I made it back to San Francisco, where I grew up; within 48 hours, I decided to quit my job and move back there; and by the end of the week, it was done"

I'm sorry I couldn't stop laughing at his b!tch ass esp. at the part in which he was back in SF within a day.

Bushwick is one of NYC's most dangerous 'hoods. WTF was he expecting??! Gritty, bleak, scrappy - seriously, I think the beating was divine retribution for his stupidity.

Funny because my sister lives in a "cool" Bushwick loft. She carries though. (mace..)

If he wanted to find that "scrappy loft neighborhood full of young bohemians camping in their studios", he went a few stops too far. And that isn't Bushwick, but East Williamsburg.

reminds me of my 1st trip to NYC back in Nov.
9PM - 6ft tall white boy from Iowa dressed business casual with a big suitcase, mistook my directions and got off the subway at HuntersPoint Ave stop.
Friggen Yikes. Never been so happy to get back on public transit
