I want to back up some of my data to store offline (in a safety deposit box). I already have multiple backups, but want an archival non-magnetic storage method, so I figure one way to do this is to use BD-R.

However, I don't want to deal with LTH Blu-ray media. I've heard horror stories, and the few I've tried didn't inspire confidence. My Blu-ray burner is quite old and quite picky with media. One of my Blu-ray readers is also very picky.

Is this what I'm looking for?

25 discs should be plenty for me for next year.

I used to get a lot of Taiyo Yuden DVD media and it was usually great, but the stores I've checked only have Taiyo Yuden LTH BD-R media around here.

Yeah, this one is HTL, not LTH. Is this the Verbatim type you used?

So the one I linked was the right one.

It's confusing because for the regular Verbatim it just has no extra label. For the LTH one the packaging looks almost identical, but just has LTH on it as well. Very easy to get them confused, but the LTH is much cheaper.

Burned a few non-LTH yesterday and they worked well. I'm doing most of my backups at 2X, but the one I tried at a faster speed worked fine.

BTW, it turns out my plan was almost too late. The drive that houses the files I wanted to back up to BD-R died yesterday, just before I got the BD-Rs. Completely crashed. Luckily I have a couple of backups, but still, it's disconcerting.
