Hello all. After completing my second build I have run into something strange. I have a lite-on bd DH-401S player connected sata to my gigabyte mobo. The drive is seen in device manager as a lite-on drive. When I navigate to cd/dvd in DM it shows:

Atapi BD 0 DH401S ATA Device

I downloaded the firmware update from lite-on and when I try to exectute it, I get:

No matched drive detected
This utility is only for Lite-on DVD+RW LDW401S Drive

I have used this drive to play DVD's w/out fail but have yet to try a BD in it. I want to update the firmware but as stated b4 I cannot. Has anyone come across this with a fix.

An RMA is not out of the question if the drive is somehow to blame. Even if I can play a BD I will most likely want to update firmware as new version come out.

Thanx for any and all help

I started out at the lite-on site. The problem is that the drive is not showing as a "lite-on" so the utility will not run. The program must need to see "lite-on" before allowing to continue. I have posted to several forums. I cannot believe I am the only one to have ever come across this..***sigh***

and you went to the site above? The LD version is totally different than the DH version you have... unless Lite-on Screwed up with their download.

Proper Jmicron or Intel SATA/RAID etc drivers installed? On my other system when I just installed WindowXP and no actual SATA driver for my mobo, it showed my DVD-RW as a generic model. When I installed the drivers, I noted it now would show my Plextor. Not sure if this helps...

I've gone to gigabytes website several times and have d/l and installed the Chipset drivers. That did not help.. I did notice a second d/l'able file at lite-on this morning for my drive (DH-401s) I proptly d/l it and am sorry to say it did nothing. However the drive this file is looking for is the actual one I have so I hope (fingers crossed) they will fix that fix one day soon. Thanx for taking the time to respond and help...
