for starters, texas a&m had the toughest schedule in the nation according to experts.

Oregon State had a tough schedule: Boise State, LSU, USC, Cal, Arizona State... 2 undefeated teams (one of which is #1 in the nation), the #4 team in the nation, and the (then) #3 team in the nation... that isn't tough?

Given that Cal didn't dominate Southern Miss, this scenario might actually play out...

I hope so.

#3 in the conference Arizona State gets waxed at Arizona
#2 in the conference Cal barely squeaks by a middle of the road SEC team
#1 in the conference USC barely gets by a middle of the road Pac 10 team

and explain to me why the media suckles at the Pac 10's bum all season?

3 BCS undefeated teams.
USC squeaks by an average to below average team
Auburn wins at a great team for the second time this year
Oklahoma destroys an average to above average team.

Explain to me why USC has gotten an automatic pass into the Orange Bowl?

Because last year USC got jewed out of the national championship when they deserved to go.

got to love your bias

you totally ignore that tennesse lost to notre dame (which got waxed by usc)
or that auburn played 3 total puf pufs for ooc, or that usc already has the acc champions beat

i am not saying auburn doesnt deserve to be there, all 3 of them have an equal shot,

Yes it's enough. At the very worst (ie cal moving up in the computers they could move up in), Texas needed 39 more points. They more then doubled that.

UT only needed a couple of extra votes per poll to pass Cal in the BCS. Texas is in for sure, we just have to wait and see if it's Rose or Fiesta.

In the BCS rankings Texas was .000132 behind Cal. In the human polls they were 48 points back. The BCS rankings arent out, but in the human polls Cal is only ahead of Texas by 5. Texas will clearly be in a BCS games because they will gain more than the .000132. And my Aggies are going to be playing on New Years day in the Cotton Bowl.

Ok, the BCS takes a mjor dump on College Football, quite like it does every year....

#1 is playing #2, ok well at least that is an improvement over last years....

#3 is playing #4, no oh wait, #4 is not even in the BCS, how bout #5 then...no they are playing #9

#4 is playing, oh that's right they aren't in the BCS

#5 is playing #6 surely then....no, they are playing #12

#6 is undefeated and will surely be playing a worthy competitor...let me check, wow the #20 team, why am I not surprised?

Is it just me or is the BCS as useless as ever?

The way it should have been:
#1 Auburn vs #4 Utah in the Sugar Bowl
#2 Oklahoma vs #3 USC in the Fiesta Bowl
Winner of the above two games in the Orange Bowl

Other non championship bowl games:
Louisville vs Texas in the Rose Bowl
Cal vs Boise State
Virginia Tech vs Michigan

You can trace the matchup problem this year back to the Big East's automatic bid. If Pitt is left out like they should be, then that leaves a spot for Cal in the Rose Bowl and Auburn would have been able to face a much more suitable opponent, either Utah or Texas (depending on which one the Fiesta didn't take). Dropping Pitt would have resulted in superior matchups in every single BCS bowl.

Georgia did slip past Boise State for #7, so if Cal loses, Texas would have a chance for a BCS bowl.

The games to watch next week: Virginia Tech @ Miami. This is for the ACC championship, and the BCS bid. This will also affect USC in the computers a lot as Virginia Tech is their second best win.

Pittsburgh @ South Florida: If Pittsburgh wins this, they are guaranteed the BCS bid from the Big East. If they lose, they still probably have an edge on Syracuse, but it comes down to the wire. Boston College and West Virgina are eliminated from contention for the BCS bowl.

Oklahoma vs. Colorado: Oklahoma lost the Big 12 championship game last year and still made the title game. No chance of that happening here, and I'd be very suprised if they still made a BCS game.

USC @ UCLA: UCLA's strength is the run, and are weak defending the pass. Both play into USC's strengths.

Auburn vs Tennessee: If auburn doesn't win by 4 touchdowns, they don't deserve a BCS game. Normally it's hard to beat a good team twice in a season, but that doesn't apply this year because Tennessee isn't a good team right now. Since losing to Notre Dame, they've barely beaten the two worst teams in the SEC.

Um you missed a HUGE change.. Texas and Michigan are confirmed for Rose bowl thats pretty huge...
Texas was gonna be skipped for BCS

Edit didnt see the date of old thread =P

YAY Longhorns!
