wow, the computers now rank tech tie #2 with USC. i believe Texas's ranking with the computers will drop with the computers as they play the rest of the games compare to USC or Tech.

the computers "should" have dropped them this week as they played a mediocre ok state team but instead they got even better. those computers are very fickle creatures.

1. USC ? at #13 Oregon, at #14 Notre Dame
2. Texas ? at #10 OhioSt, #15 Texas Tech, #22 Colorado, v. #25 Oklahoma
3. VaTech ? at #17 W.Virginia, v. #19 Boston College
4. Alabama - #16 Florida
5. UCLA - #23 California, #25 Oklahoma

6. Miami - #22 Colorado
7. PennSt - #10 OhioSt
8. LSU ? #16 Florida, #20 Auburn
9. FSU ? #6 Miami, #19 Boston College
10. OhioSt ? None

- Only 6 teams have more than one win over a BCS ranked opponent.
- Only Texas has more than two wins over a BCS ranked opponent, and that total of 4 is twice as many as any other team.
- Alabama has by far the weakest resume of the current unbeatens, but they will have an opportunity to change that.

For Texas, it is quite possible for its 4 ranked (BCS) opponents to win out, other than the loser of the Tech/OU game coming up. If that happens, and Tech beats OU, then Texas will have two wins versus BCS top 10 teams and 4 total.

Texas will have to lose to be out of the Rose Bowl. Their schedule (front loaded) is too tough to keep them out.

Edit: Also worth noting, OU has 3 losses. Those 3 teams that beat OU are a combined 24-1.

USC's schedule is back loaded so they are "undervalued" right now. That is why VaTech wouldnt be able to jump them either.

The computers only make up a third of the points for the BCS. The polls make up two thirds. Since Texas averages 2 in the computers and 2 in the polls that is 6 points. Even if Va Tech moves into first on the computers, and stays 3 in the polls (no preseason number two has ever been jumped in the polls while going undefeated), that is 7 points, not enough to pass Texas. Of course, a VaTech jump to number one in the computers wont happen when USC beats UCLA.

Yeah, I'm still PO'd about UGA losing to UF. I know we would've won with Shockley in the line-up...Richt just didn't want to make Tereshinski freak out, so he essentially worsened the situation by (as previously mentioned) calling an ultra-conservative game.

It's ok, so long as Shockley returns, we should make it to the SEC championships at least...and then to either 'bama or LSU. I wouldn't mind watching us win against either =)
