"ESPN, I'll tell you, I don't have much to do with them anymore."

right, because lou holtz never won anything

you can give a great coach that beat you every year south carolina and he would lose to you.

I believe if Tennesse goes into Notre Dame and beats them, then the SEC will get a little more respect. It may not happen, but if it does it will only make the SEC look stronger and should give either Alabama or Georgia a shot at jumping over USC. Of course this is just my opinion and dream of Tenessee saving their season by beating ND. They sure have blown it so far in giving the games to FL and Alabama.

BTW, ND will be the 5th top 10 team played by Tennessee this year. Although FL has since dropped from the top 10. Any other teams have a schedule that tuff?

It'll be tough for UT since they just lost Gerald Riggs for the season. I thought the UT backup RB did a better job of running the ball against Bama but that will hurt their depth. If the UT defense can pressure Brady Quinn the same way that they've pressured every other QB this year they'll have a shot.

However, the Great Pumpkin has UT so dysfunctional this year.....

I truely hope that having one team beat a 3* loss team will NOT give a whole conference much respect. One game is meaningless, and a 3* loss team isn't that great of an accomplishment.

*ND would have 3 losses if Tennesse wins.

That "they were ranked high at one point in the season, but they aren't ranked high anymore because they keep losing, but we should still get credit for beating a high ranked team" argument always makes me sick. Who cares what they were ranked early on the season? What matters is what teams you beat are ranked high at the END of the season!

Lets take your logic to the extreme. At the beginning of the season, Tennessee had 13 first place votes in the AP poll. Florida beat Tennessee, thus Florida MUST be first place (since Tennessee was #1 to those voters). No other team can make that claim this whole season! Thus no matter what, Florida must be ranked #1 until someone beats USC or Texas! Who cares that many other teams beat Tennessee! They were #1 at one point, thus the team that beat them MUST be #1 no matter what!

See its a stupid logic you propose.

That said, Tennessee probably has one of the toughest schedules around. Also look at Ohio St, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Arizona St for teams with tough schedules.

Join the club, Alabama and Georgia. And Virginia Tech is welcome, too.

That was the message Monday from Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville, who spoke at the Montgomery Quarterback Club's noon luncheon two days after watching his team's 13-game SEC winning streak come to an end at Baton Rouge.

Tuberville, whose team was shut out of the BCS national title game last season, was asked if he thought the same thing might happen to an SEC school again this year. That got him started on the Bowl Championship Series system and the national media, particularly ESPN.

"It's done," Tuberville said. "The national media, led by ESPN, wants to see Vince Young vs. Matt Leinart in the championship game. It's going to be those two teams unless Texas or USC get upset.

"Last year, they wanted to see the two Heisman Trophy quarterbacks, Jason White and Leinart. After six or seven games, we were out of it.

"If four teams are undefeated at the end of the season, there should be a playoff. There should've been one last year. But it's decided already. I don't like it."

Tuberville spoke out sharply against ESPN and the influence it wields on the college game. He said the opinions ESPN hosts and analysts put out on the airwaves each week tend to shape the opinions of fans and media people around the country.

And he's not at all happy about that.

"ESPN has gotten so much power lately, it's kinda scary," Tuberville said. "And most of their analysts are coaches who haven't won any games. That's why they're there. I think you know who I'm talking about.

"And Lou Holtz gets on there and talks about what a team has to do win that game, and the guy couldn't beat anybody in our conference. These guys will come talk to you and look you straight in the eye and tell you something, then they'll get on the air and say something else.

Tenn has been overated. If LSU would not have choked they would be 2-4.

Worry not, USC fans. UT and USC will flip again this week I think. We play suck-ass Oklahoma State, which will drag us back down in a couple of the computers. Remember, this is the thinnest margin between 1 and 2 in BCS history.

Hook 'em.

if VT runs the table will they be able to overtake either SC or UT (assumign they both win out) whichever is #1 at that point

I think if USC wins out...they will be #1 because they are playing 3 top 25 and if VT wins out they can get #2 since they are playing a 6th and 11th ranked team while Texas aren't playing anymore ranked teams.

Now that would be poetic justice.

I think VT will have a very strong clam if they go through the rest of the season undefeated, they have some tough games coming up, so does USC , should be interesting, if all the undefeated teams keep winning
