BCS Playoff

I disagree. There will be teams on the outside bitching no matter how many teams you invite. Look at the basketball. 64 now 68 and there were still teams bitching about being left out. 8, imo, is perfect. Most of the undefeated non-bcs teams have finished in the top 8.

I was going to use the same example. If a team that didn't make the top 68 can bitch and moan...

lol.

The biggest issue with inviting more teams is the time increases by a week with every iteration. College kids can play a basketball game every other night, and frequently do in the NCAA tournament; football is once a week, no exceptions. A 16 team playoff is 4 weeks long. Now, honestly, I think that would be fine; it could replace a lot of the Bowl games. But you're still going to have a shitload of teams wanting to do Bowl games because they're extremely lucrative. And that's going to cause all sorts of scheduling issues between the Bowl games and the official BCS tournament.

8 would be better than 4. 16 would be better than 8, but I'm not sure how reasonable it is to expect a 4 week playoff season in college football.

We're going to hear a lot of bitching from the perennial complainers at Boise State. But you're right, no one takes them seriously. It's going to get stale seeing Bama, LSU, Oklahoma and THE Ohio State University playing each other every year though.

I think you're going to hear a lot of complaining from the one Big 5 conference that gets left out of the 4 spots, and that will most likely be the ACC more often than others.

the biggest problem with the bowls is that the bowls are not extremely lucrative for the schools. in fact, most bowls are money pits for the schools. bowls serve as a way to funnel money largely from public institutions to old white guys in ugly coats.

This is the real truth of the matter.

Better than what they have now. How many times has a team outside of the Top 4 actually deserved a chance at the NC?

depends on how many teams out of the top 4 would have been able to make a run if a playoff system had been established long ago.

Do you watch basketball or pro football?
