I decided to try a BCAA supplement of around 20g/day, before and after workouts on workout days. From what I've read it seems that many people think it's worth it, and then many others see it as a waste and won't do anything. I don't see any negative effects though.

I guess I'll use it consistently while I have it for now and see what happens. But does anyone here have good information saying that it is or isn't a benefit?

I take Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard 100% Whey and they throw in like 5g of BCAA's per serving.

Good enough for me.

I've been taking a bit over the recommended dosage of xtend before and after workouts, and enjoy rarely feeling sore, so I would say it works for me. I dusted one and am now about a quarter way through the second. I've also started drinking a serving in the morning with my animal pak, just for shits and giggles. xtend also has glutamine too so hopefully that helps.

I just started doing hiit cardio again, and definitely enjoy the ability to do it 4 nights out of the week after not having done it in a few months.

I used to use ON, but it costs too much for me.
I get the one the Walmart sells, body fortress I think, has a few grams of BCAAs in it as well.

There's actually some debate on whether the BCAAs within a protein act the same as free form BCAAs. So those 5g of BCAA in your protein may not actually act the same way in your body.

To the OP, I'm assuming you are talking about bulk BCAAs or something like that right? Many of the serious lifters or endurance guys (boxing, MMA, etc) will swear by it. They claim they don't get as sore and the recover faster. I personally didn't notice a huge difference.

In my opinion (only my opinion). I would take 5g of free form BCAAs in a post workout drink while bulking and/or maintaining b/c I believe I get enough from food then. If I was cutting or trying to lose weight I would take 5g post workout and then another 15g throughout the day. This will allow you to cut without losing your precious muscle. If I had unlimited funds I would take 20g a day all the time though :)
