BBQing sausages - boil them first?

I'm going to try going straight to the grill. We'll see what happens.

Gotta go mix the marinade and get the meat marinading for at least a couple of hours first. 🙂

If you cook with the cover on, the coals won't flare up. I usually do 90 sec cover on and 90 sec cover off to flip, can get through plenty of food without anything burning.

Boil them in beer then bbq.🙂

I usually boil them in beer with peppercorns and a couple of sliced onions. Then, I move the sausages to the grill and saute the onions.

yeap this is what i do. I broil them in beer for about 20 minutes then move them to the grill. You can also take the stuff you broiled them in and put it in a small tinfoil bowl and have the brauts sit in that after they are done so they stay warm for guest that come late.

I boil them in beer first, it reduces cooking time and if you have to cook too long they get charred and dry. They come out better if they're precooked and just grilled for a short time to add flavor.

You're cooking with too much heat. Turn the heat down and flip the sausages over more often. The outside will seal up closed and the sausages will be nice and juicy on the outside. And who cares about cook-time? Put them on the grill far enough in advance that it's not a problem.

Screw that. Maybe some people have the time to stand there for an hour cooking slowly and flipping constantly, but I have a life and won't be the slave to a grill. Preboiled they're jucier, taste better, cook easier and faster. You can toss them on the same time as the dogs and burgers and they'll be done at the same time. Anyone standing there flipping sausage constantly so that it cooks evenly needs to find a better use for their time.
