Official: BBC To Reveal New Doctor Who In Live Broadcast This Sunday

On the BBC at 7pm this Sunday night we will finally find out who will play the twelfth doctor, in a live show hosted by Zoe Ball. For our American readers who might want to ensure they’re near a computer at that time that’s 7pm UK time, which is 11am PDT and 2pm EDT.

Matt Smith and Steven Moffat will join Ball on the show with the man or woman who will be playing the new Doctor.

Casting was supposedly done under the code name Whodini and even those working with the twelfth doctor were not aware that that was what they were doing.

The BBC One schedule for this Sunday currently has an episode of Celebrity Mastermind scheduled for that time. I presume that’s getting bumped for this special.

Shouldn't it be the
thirteenth
Doctor? After the season finale there's some question about
numbering
..

No, just no.

I can't see anyone outclassing Matt Smith tbh. We have to wait and see! 🙂

That actually shouldn't be that hard to do. Smith was at his best when playing a clueless goofball, he couldn't do anything serious believably. And the non-nonsensical story arcs didn't help him.

I just hope its a more serious Doctor than Matt Smiths Doctor.
Basically a serious actor who can do some comedy, instead of vice versa.

I still haven't gotten as far into Doctor Who as I'd like, but after season one, I missed Eccelston. I just found his whimsical nature to be more... endearing (I think?) than Tennant.

My wishlist:

1. Simon Pegg (I know he was already on it, but still - Scotty!)

2. Ron Weasely (finally a ginger AND funny!)

3. I forgot the rest. We had a discussion going at work the other day. Blah.

And just for kicks:

1. The Rock (just imagine the Christmas special!)

2. Russell Brand (he has the weird English guy thing down pat)

3. Jim Carrey (despite being old, tell me you don't see it)

4. Ryan Reynolds (I saw the ability for funnay in his Deadpool character, plus there's the fat suit)

5. Dominic Monaghan (Charlie from lost - because he can actually act, too)

David Tennant handily outclassed Smith.

I liked them both, but I also give the nod to Tennant. But I also liked Eccleston. Wish he had done more than one season.

And Netflix to get more seasons, please.

I liked Eccleston too, and thought he was better than Tennant when Tennant was doing his first season. However, Tennant grew on me and he added some depth to the character.

Matt Smith has no depth, he's just a caricature of a crazy man with a screwdriver and a box.

I like Eccleston more than Tennant. Tennant only really grew on me on te Christmas specials. There aren't any episodes from series 2-4 (5?) that I actually like aside from "Forest of the Dead", which features River Song and was written by the Steven Moffat.

I've been watching every episode with Matt Smith closely and actually look forward to new episodes. A lot of it had to do with Karen Gillan, but Matt grew on me a lot.

I found Eccleston to be WORST DOCTOR of all-time. I hated him in the role and was glad he was on for only one season. On the other hand, Tennant is the best doctor of all time hands down IMHO.
