I wouldn't call all of you "damn Ferengi's" if I had placed an order (wish I did) and received a free $30 BB GC. I'd shut up like the other 100 people in this thread should have.

You never asked if I worked for BB specifically. Did you miss the part where I said I worked for the largest retailer in the country? I'm sure they get volume discounts that are nearly that of BB. I also have a friend who works for Future Shop (OWNED by BB), and have seen the cost on countless items throughout that store.

Anything else? Where are you getting your information from? HardForums? LOL!

uh you morons thinking that their price is really $99 are just that morons.


my dad works for a company that produces 150000 computers a month. they sure get a discount on parts but not 65% off. you guys are idiots, best buy stock would be 8 trillion a share if that were the truth.


a large OEM for example, if a tbird 1000 lets say was $100 on pricewatch oem gray market, they probably get it for like $75-80 at the least (not to mention this is a special case with AMD its possible it could even be less, AMD sells their CPUS for waaaaaay less then the supposed OEM price, just to keep these OEMs from dumping them all together and going all intel again) and they have to buy like over 1000 of them at a time and agree to contracts that extend for x number of months etc. video cards were even worse, back when asus v6800s were king, they were paying like $185 for them and they were $230 on pricewatch. and again that is not that much considering . cheap cards are even far worse, gf2mx 200s are probably $35 cost for them which isnt that cheap either compared to oem ones on pricewatch.


moral of this story, is you should use your brain, or else someone who does will call you a moron and ridicule you ... not to mention your kids willbe stupid too.

I will bet you a Geforce4 4600 that BestBuy's price for a Geforce4 4600 128MB card is higher than $99. The freakin ram costs more than that. If there is someone with a scanned hard copy with a price for $99 it's proably the reason they mis-priced it at $129

if they were 99, no customer would ever see one in a bb store, the employees would pick them up with their employee discount(was it 5% above cost or 15%?) either way, they make a tidy profit if this were true.

Gratz to everyone who essentially made $30 on this deal and are wise enough to realize they got something for nothing.

So what are the "facts?" I was under the impression that I had seen the facts, but apparently you know something everyone else doesn't?

 
Bitch all you want guys, but I'll take a $30 off a Nomad II marked at $99. I've been looking for one for a while and now I get a $30 discount that required nothing more than a few emails to BB to acquire. Sure, I'd rather have the GF4, but a free $30 is fine by me.

See? Looks like the pressure was put on BB and they had to make some kind of consolation to those of us who found their orders cancelled. Peeps calling us moronic b@stards, @ssholes, putzes and idiots for pressing Best Buy on this issue. :disgust: The squeaky wheel gets the oil, as this situation proves. LOL, I don't know who ferengi is but I assume he/she was pissed about not getting a score on Geforce4 🙂

My only concerns are... (and I did order one knowing well that it was a mistake, but I also throw pennies into fountains!)

-Both web and print ads call out "Special Pre-Order Price of $129.00..the savings is a $200.00 Value"
-I called 1800Bestbuy and asked flat out... "this price is way too low, are you sure it's not a MX or something?" The answer was "YES. it's a special on the Geforce4 Ti 4600"
-Some people claim (I do not make this claim) that their credit cards were charged when they placed their order.

How can a "simple mistake" propagate so long? I do believe that it was a mistake, but it was far from simple.

I'm actually really impressed that they issued $30 gift cards. I'm not sore that I didn't get a Geforce4 for a stellar deal, but I can imagine that if my credit card was charged and then credited I would be pissed. IMO, place a charge on a CC and the deal is done.

WTF do you all want from us? I'm not a lawyer so I just want to make sure my rights are upheld and that's why I am participating in this "discovery" session. Is there anything wrong with that? Don't rattle off the same old crap about the TOS and typographical errors. Every day I learn new things about this web order and the in-store pre-ordering with the $179 price and the rainchecks. There seems to be more to this than just a simple "error".

if best buy gets their cards for 99$... their employee discount (at least in pleasant hill california) is 5% above the price they get it for... so if BB gets it for 99$ wouldn't that mean all employees could get it for less then 130$?

People rarely care about something unless they are passionate about it or have some ownership of the output. If someone is not involved with this order, why would they care enough about its details to make constant derogatory comments? Nobody is conducting any unethical behavior so I don't see why we have to constantly fend off these utterly negative pissrants.
